Default Preview: Partizan-Cibona

Dujan Vujosevic
Head Coach
" "I know Cibona well. They have a good team, well-balanced at all positions, with a good combination of Croatian players and foreigners. I expect that the massive presence of our public is going to help us more than pressure us, though I must admit that the unexpected loss to Red Star on Sunday has hurt us a lot. But I believe my team will bounce back."

Never Spahija
Head Coach
"The game against Partizan will be pretty difficult, but not 'mission imposible'. We have a really difficult schedule, which can be deceptive, although I'm sure that we can improve our results in the second half of the regular season. Partizan is oscilating a lot, even more than us, but we have to be careful with their best players - Vlada Scepanovic, Milos Vujanic and Jovo Stanojevic. In fact at the moment, I think they are playing the best basketball in our group."

After it won the big Spanish bingo last Wednesday at Vitoria against Tau Ceramica, Partizan (3-1) is facing a Group D match which is more than that: It is the 110th game against long-time rival Cibona VIP (2-2). But you could also call this a game of the future, between Cibona rising stars (Zoran Planinic, Marijan Mance, Josip Sesar, Branimir Longin) and those of Partizan (Milos Vujanic, Nenad Krstic, Vule Avdalovic, Stevan Nadjfeji). Of course, Partizan has the advantage of 7,000 supporters in Pionir Arena who won't forget the many duels, recent and past, between these two teams. In the two Euroleague games played between these teams in 1997 and 1998, the balance shows 2-0 in favor of Cibona. But Partizan is bringing along a new center, Peter Cornell, and one huge motivation: To make fans forget its collapse on Sunday against archrival Red Star in the Yugoslav League. That can be done by staying tied for the lead in the Euroleague's most unpredictable group.

Vlado Scepanovic
Guard
"Of all the Cibona players, the one I know best is Okunsky. Last year, he was in Darussafaka when I was playing for Efes. He's an expert player, very useful. Cibona has a good team that we should not underestimate or overestimate. If we repeat our showing in Vitoria last week, I think we can win."

Zoran Planinic
Guard
"No game against Partizan can be counted as just any other game. Nobody can enter it without emotions. Everyone will be nervous and the most important thing is having the ability to control those emotions."

I can't wait till the match !!!!!

Volim Partizan
MNOGO SMO JAKI !!!
