Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
get yourself involved with players in a higher level than you and you will learn very fast.
if you say you have strength and skill, then you should simply need practise.

Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
Well for skillful play I'd have to suggest playing some indoor soccer. It's all about control and footwork. As for having no support, you can always pass the ball backwards or just try real hard to maintain possession by positioning yourself between the attacker and the ball. Just try to do that until someone opens up for you. I have to agree with the post on playing with older people. Usually you will be able to pick up better tactics even if you just watch older people play. Also, watch some pro games and just see what they do. You can learn alot just through observation. Yet nothing replaces actually playing in a game with them.

Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
tell your teamates they need to get open and make a run or something like that...just keep telling them and eventually they should learn...if they dont, i suggest talking to the coach about it and telling him/her your problem

Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
i agree with the above posts.
watching the pro's play really helps give u an idea of what to do.
but playing indoor is another great idea. your game will improve dramatically, guaranteed! mine did...
just be patient on the field. dont rush things, and relax.

Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
Soccer is a team game. It's a game of mind and stamina. Players need to dribble whenever they don't find anyone to pass. Since, I can see that you play as a defensive midfielder. So, I want you to play one touch game and move your body to free space so that your team mate can pass it to you easily and this way you and your team mate would build up a fair game.

Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
Hmm... from what you just said, you sound like you can play in any defensive position. But u said your weakness is you hold on and rush too much...
when you win the ball/have the ball don't panic!!!, decide in your head pass/dribble/shoot the best defendsive midfielders always think ahead
hope this is good advice for u

Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
You should only dribble to make space, especially if you're playing in central midfield. Always think pass first, dribble second.
When playing midfield, your first touch is the most important. Make sure you look up all the time as well, so know where your team mates are.

Playing as a defensive midfielder requires strength and good stamina. It is also a big advantage if you are a natural born leader on the soccer field and pose strong personality. This is important because you will need to encourage your teammates and give them strength to work harder.

Re: Defensive midfielder advises ??
Hi, i play in under18s soccer defensieve midfield and im only 15.... i agree with Da Shatterer, ever since i started training and playing with U18's every aspect of my gameplay has improved.... Dribbling, ball control, passing, shooting, all gameplay.... i can read the game better also it helped loads...... If you want to get better i suggest you practise in your backyard even kick the ball around for a few hours a day, oh and when you are playing in a match... call for the ball... dont sit around waiting for the ball to come to you, make yourself available... experience is a great teacher i find...... hope it helped you =)
