The Ronaldo Thread.
Ronaldo pleads with paparazzi to cool it
First Published: Sep 16, 2002
Ronaldo has called for the paparazzi to back off hounding his family's every move.
The Brazilian World Cup star made the request on his website on Monday just weeks after signing for European champions' Real Madrid from Inter Milan.
"I'm a footballer and I want to be treated like one," pleaded Ronaldo.
"I'm saying this because over the last few days my family and myself have been followed everywhere by reporters and photographers, many of them not involved in the world of football."
On Saturday the top scorer at this summer's World Cup appeared visibly upset when he and his wife Milene and two-year-old son Ronald tried to give the waiting press pack the slip by leaving a restaurant from a side exit.
The new Real recruit said: "I'm sure that people appreciate my situation - the most important thing for me is the privacy of my family."
Ronaldo is due to make his anxiously-awaited debut for Real in the European Champions League tie against Genk of Belgium in the Spanish capital on September 25.
*******
I thought that we could put all articles and view regarding R11 here.
It looks as if R11 has taken all the media hype off of Zizou. The same as Zizou had done for Figo.

Hahahahaha....he wants to be treated like a footballer? Why don't he act like one and start playing instead of putting himself in constant injuries!!
da gr8 1: yeah....I agree with you...let's see how long he can stay playing on the pitch this season with Real.

How's this for you dumb thread. He's a whiny, greedy snake in the grass who's an embarassment to himself, football and Real Madrid. The Real Madrid players don't even want him there! HAHAHA! What a joke, R11. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!

I see being a Puta fan you can speak for the majority of Madridista.
or the fact with in the first day of his signing the official Real Madrid store sold out his shirts.
It's undeniable that some player were upset but not over Ronaldo but the treatment the Mori recieved as they tried to close the deal with Mori as a negotiation chip.
So please go back to that whorehouse called the nou camp and cheer on that little waterbug Saviola.

several reason really.
last year Mori was injured and once he became healthy he was very streaky player with goals, the other player didnt step up when he was out, Guti, Munitis and Raul had a low goal total year.
I think Mori ended up w/ 18 goal but 5 of them came in one game. So the truth about the matter we were in the market for a striker. Most madridista had thought that it would be Crespo that would be joining Raul. Last season we controlled games bu could not finish them off due to lack of a true goal scorer.
Than theres the economic impact. After the WC in Korea Ronaldo was the most visiable player in the world, Real philosophy is buy great players who can also make an return in our investment immediately. The signing of Ronaldo will help Real madrid create a new market in Asia. Real is lagging behinde Man Utd in this untapped market. It's been reported already that when Real Madrid won ECL last year that they had recouped the funds from the zidane transfer.
Currently Real Madrid is planning next season a tour through asia where its been reported thaat one investor is willing to pay Real 17m for an appearance plus talk of a central & south america tour as well.
So in reality we were in the market for a striker to begin with and that this was not all of a sudden buy. The economic impact will favor the club hughely and will keep us in a healty cash flow for future players and projects.
HALA MADRID.

Actually, I´m really concerned about the atmosphere with Ronaldo on the team.
On another note, what would be Madrid´s attack? Guti is now on a hot scoring streak, to make things more difficult for Del Bosque.

Does somebody know, what's with McManaman?
Agree. Del Bosque will have something to think about. But all the LaLiga job and the CL - isn't it good to have such an impressive attack? Thinking on that ROMA match on Wednesday and all the
fouls the Italian did.

Real will be gunning for 5 titles this year
UEFA SUPER CUP....in the bag.
La Liga
Copa Dey Rey
UEFA CL
InterCont.
Guti is hot yes but last year the guy missed soooo many goals for us and if he continues to play this well than DB will look to install a rotation since we can keep fresh legs.
Ronaldo & Guti will be used in La liga and CL while mori and Portillo will be used in Copa Del Rey and come of the bench.
This is a luxury every team wished that they had to field a team that can keep coming and coming at you with fresh players.
