Smile Xavi Hernández - FC Barcelona

Xavi Hernández

Xavi Hernandez is one of the most underrated players out there, yet without him Barca would not be what it is now. The key is his philosophy = Barca, Every goal, every play, every dangerous through ball is initiated by Xavi, his joy and beautiful football on the pitch is priceless. Every elegant pass.... he makes it look so easy. One of his greatest characteristics is not abusing of dribbling skills, Xavi plays for the team, not for himself which makes him Barca's engine. Controlling the pace and rhythm of the game seems effortlessly to Xavi. The vision on the field he has is amazing.... even surprising us spectators who can see it all.

It's sad and pitiful how i keep hearing people say he's not any better than Fabregas or Xabi Alonso

With players like Henry, Messi, Zlatan, Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Deco.... Xavi has received very few attention.

He's not the most skillful, best free kick taker, strongest, fastest, meanest or nicest player on the field... No Xavi isn't any of that, He's simply Xavi.... simply the best.

Xavi doesn't have a "star" status, yet he plays like he's from another planet. Same goes for Iniesta. They'll never be so hot like Cristina Ronaldo and others...But they remain unsurpassed in their respective positions...

He's definately the best midfielder at the moment, so I don't think he's that underrated. But it's true, you rarely hear anything about Xavi.
He's a fenomenal player, basicly everytime i watch a Barca goal, it's assisted by Xavi, if it's not scored by the man himself.
Best passer in the world.. depends. Overall I would say yes, but he's definitely the best in through balls. In my opinion, Xabi Alonso is the best long-ball passer.

After Euro 2008 & the Treble last season I don't think Xavi's excellence is much of a secret any more. I think he is generally recognized as the best midfielder in the world.

He's definetly not underrated. I love him. He is one of my Barca favs right up there with Messi and Ronaldinho.

Well i wouldn't compare him to a winger. But he is far more intelligent than those two

^ True that, and he seems to be the only one that can't realize that he can't dribble for shit.

I think that most people get carried away by fancy moves or lots of goals. But people who really pay attention realize that Xavi can control a game like very few others.
