Afonso Alves has won the Dutch player of the year award, scoring an amazing 34 goals in his first season (!!).
He has played a total of 31 matches, bringing his goal scoring ratio at 1.10 which is quite remarkble for a striker who played his first year in the Eredivisie.
Second place was for Phillip Cocu, the PSV captain had been playing his last year for PSV and as always has contributed a great part to PSV's championship title and scoring the winning goal.
Thrid place was for PSV defender Alex, who has been invalueble to PSV's championship and if he didn't return sooner PSV might have lost the championship title.
Alex would have also been a candidate for the golden shoe, if he played 30 matches, in total Alex played 29.
In my opinion a pretty deserving top three, although I think Sneijder should have been in the top 3 as he has had his best season ever for Ajax, scored an amazing amount of goals for a midfielder and has been amazing the entire season, but I guess the championship title for PSV played a part also.
In any case, congratulations Alves, Cocu and Alex.
