Default The Vulture is Back

(While Real Madrid & Barça 'supermarkets of players' abruptly sink...)

Legendary Flamengo (a real football club) slowly 'rebirths' from the cinders...

After a long period without titles, the red & black giant of Brazil - by far the most popular club of the country, with its 35 million rooters - has been packing Maracanã Stadium again - and this time protagonizing important titles.

Besides conquering the majority of the Rio de Janeiro State tournaments in the last 7 years, and, in 2006, the 'Brazil Cup' against Vasco da Gama - which entitled it to the Libertadores Cup (where it had a good start – 1 tie out, 1 win home), and, hopefully, the WCC in Tokio in December - 'The Vulture' ('O Urubu') just snapped yesterday the important 1st leg of the 2007 Rio de Janeiro State Championship ('Taça Guanabara'), automatically giving it the right to dispute the final of that tournament.

The adversary of that decision was surprising Madureira (a small but traditional club of Rio, that this year mounted an exceptionally strong team with former NT players (Djair, Odvan) and excellent youngsters (Marcelo, Maicon - ANOTHER Maicon, Laury! ...), & that had so far defeated all the big ones (Vasco, Fluminense, Botafogo and Flamengo itself) – those youngsters very soon I’m sure will be seen in big clubs of Brazil or Europe.

Here are some pictures of the final (Fla 4 x 1 Madureira, in a surprisingly elastic score, since Flamengo had lost by the same 4 x 1 to the adversary this year)…

'SEE' YESTERDAY'S GAME DIRECTLY FROM THE COUNTRY OF FOOTBALL IN KK'S PICS, FOLKS! ...

PENALTY CALLED AGAINST MADUREIRA (WHEN SCORE WAS FLA 3 X 1 MAD):

RENATO AUGUSTO (REMEMBER THAT NAME) GETS READY FOR KICKING:

GOALLLLLLLL!...

IT'S CHAMPION!...

HE DESERVES!...

THE BIGGEST MASS OF ROOTERS IN THE PLANET IS HAPPY AGAIN!...

LARGEST STADIUM ON EARTH APPLAUDS! ...

END OF THE LINE, REAL! BYE, BARÇA! THE VULTURE IS BACK!...

PS: Don't get 'mad', Euro fan, but for Flamengo rooters, 'Madrid' &'Madureira' have precisely the same 'initials'! ...
