Larsson
Henrik Larsson could stay at Manchester United until the end of the season, the player's Swedish club revealed on Monday.
Larsson, who scored on his United debut in Sunday's 2-1 FA Cup win over Aston Villa, joined from Helsingborgs initially on a short-term deal until March.
The club's chairman Sten-Inge Fredin has revealed the Scandinavians would allow Larsson to remain at United for the rest of the season if all parties are in agreement.
"It's up to Henrik," said Fredin. "If he wants to stay then we'll open that discussion with United. We will not stand in his way."
Fredin confirmed to Sky Sports News that there have not been any discussions with United as of yet.
"There have not been any discussions with United and 12 March is the date he will be back at the moment," said Fredin.
"If United want to keep him then it is up to Henrik in the first instance and then we have to sit down and see if we can find a solution with the clubs."
Despite an impressive debut, Larsson is refusing to look too far into the future.
"It is all ifs and I am just taking it one match at a time at the moment," said Larsson.
Larsson's contribution, though, has already led Sir Alex Ferguson to draw comparisons with Old Trafford great Eric Cantona.
"Henrik has always scored goals and some of them have been crucial," said Sir Alex Ferguson.
"Eric Cantona was like that here as well. Henrik could have scored two or three goals and his movement was terrific.
"The goal summed him up perfectly - there was no drawback for the shot."
I'd still find it extremely surprising if he signed a permanent deal but till the end of the season is good news for Utd.

Re: Larsson
He started his Man U career off well by scoring the opener against Aston Villa in the Fa cup.
It was a pretty good goal

Re: Larsson
i see Man u keeping Larsson until the end of the seasson if they can. He looked really sharp even though he had not played in ages. He combined really well with Rooney and did not look like a 35 yr old. In fact he looked just as sprightly as Rooney.

Re: Larsson
Yeh. He was great in the Villa match and it would be great if we could keep him until we get Hargreaves(hopefully).

Re: Larsson
I think Man U may extend it to the end of the season now his club have said it's upto the player. I don't think he'll play beyond the end of the season but who knows. If he carries on performing like he did in the Villa game i'll be happy!

Re: Larsson
Sir Alex Ferguson claims Manchester United are not currently looking into extending Henrik Larsson's loan stay at Old Trafford.
The Swedish forward made an instant impact as he scored in his first game at the weekend and it was immediately suggested that United would look to extend his deal until the end of the season.
Helsingborgs have suggested that they would be prepared to let Larsson stay if a compensation package can be agreed but Ferguson claims that, at present, the forward will leave as planned on 12th March.
"Henrik is here until March 12 and we are not looking beyond that," stated the Scot.
"I do not think it is pertinent at this moment anyway.
"It would not be fair to start putting Helsingborg under that type of pressure.
"Henrik is enjoying playing here and that is the way we are going to leave it."
