On many of the post there has been misinformationposted about players that Australia have stolen from other countries. I have compiled a list of our squad and their places of birth and as you can see no one was born outside of Australia. I dont expect many replies to this post as it is hard to type when you have your foot in your mouth!!!!

there are two different views you have to consider. People in the US, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Argentina and others have much more a "soil right" view, since their societies were based on immigrants. People in Europe and Asia have much more the "blood right" view. Their countries were created based on their races, cultures, languages. This means that while an australian feels himself as an australian because he was born and educated in Australia, europeans tend to see him from the point of view of his origin. This is perhaps one of the causes for the dificulties Europe has since they became a continent of immigration, instead of emigration.

In this way I think both are correct, in their own view. However they should consider the players' own view. And in this case, I believe australian born australians feel themselves as australians. But each case could be a different case, I don't know.

Anyway I know that anyone would use this "double-standard" in order to take advantages for himself. Vieri, perhaps? Dunno. I could mention Kuranyi (brazilian/german) as an example I can talk about.

Yeah alot of mexicans were using Australia to excuse their own NT of naturalizing players from Argentina and Brazil, good thing the truth comes out that there r no foreign players in australia nt. Australia has many good National players.

Thanks for the post and the information bomber 23. I'm not sure how serious most of the posters are re- national origins. There could be a bit of 'sledging' going on. I will say though that there is way too much talk about race and nationality and I'm at a loss what any of it has to do with football. I guess that there isn't much else to talk about before the WC begins....
