Brasil 4x1 Argentina, fora o baile...
Hard to translate that title above, but the score shows that no team in the World (none) should ignore Brazil.
After the WCQ a lotta people said that Argentina is WAY better than Brazil... I still think Argentina is the 2nd best team in the World and after watching Germany in this Confed. Cup I don't know if they're a serious threat to any BIG NT.
BRAZIL current: 2002 WC Champ., 2004 Copa América Champ. and 2005 Confed. Cup Champ.

Trust me, no one does ignore Brazil...why would they? And if they play like they did today, it will be hard to beat them.

Re: Brasil 4x1 Argentina, fora o baile...
My thoughts on today's match. (For anyone who doesn't know, you can read my thoughts on the WCQ between Brazil and Argentina a few weeks past).
I am a neutral, and despite some of the claims of paranoid Brazilians that I was pro-Argentina in my match review of their WCQ just because I posted that I believed Argentina was the superior team in that match, I will say that I remain neutral in this encounter too, so I hope the tables aren't turned and Argentineans call me biased....nevertheless, my thoughts:
Brazil did to Argentina what Argentina did to Brazil a few weeks past. Namely:
1 - Dominated the midfield
2 - Played great team defense
3 - Hit them on the counter with 3,4,5 players after they achieved an early 2 goal lead.
Brazil turned the tables today and completely outclassed Argentina.
Argentina looked timid and weak, making bad passes as the Brazilians did a few weeks past. When given good opportunities to score, they completely choked on their shots (namely; Figuera and Coloccini).
Brazil had midfield possession, which is what they need to create and set up. Excellent lateral movement, causing the Argentineans to run around seemingly looking aimless for much of the beginning.
Again, Argentina was outclassed. They lacked the tenacity they had in Buenos Aires.
In the first encounter 3 weeks back it was the Argentineans that came out with the heightened intensity, completely dominating the Brazilian midfield, and creating many odd man chances, today it was Brazil's turn.
Dida made 2-3 great saves to preserve the 4-0 lead until Aimar scored a late goal, not even one that can be considered a consolation goal. It was too little too late.
Parreira changed his tactics, and I can't understand why he isn't liked in Brazil. His defensive tactics were superb. Too see Ronaldinho and Kaka coming back to retrieve balls on their 18 yard line was unheard of in the first match, but it was a regular occurence in this one. The team defended so well that even Roque Junior looked pretty good.
All in all, Brazil was better, period.
Ciao

It's hard to say that both teams are even. Brasil has the edge, however, Argentina still has a very good team. I too am a skeptic in regard to Brasil's consistancy. It's important too take it one step at a time otherwise the team will get too full of themselves. Overconfidence could lead to a rude awakening...

There's one thing though... in Buenos Aires Argentina dominated 3/4 of the game, the last half of the 2nd half was all Brazil. Today Brazil ominated the whole game.

I agree and Robinho,Ronaldinho,Adriano etc. will improve dramatically by 2006 and if a team like this could crush the argies 4-1 imagine what they could do in 2006 with all those players even better.

Had Figuera not missed the one-on-one with Dida, or Colocini not toe poked it right at him (Both absolutely inept finishing by those players) it would look differently. Brazil was all counter-attack after the second goal, except most people will miss that because they do it the right way; with 4 players, not 1 or 2. Nevertheless, they won it in midfield by dispossessing the Argies in that domain and feeding their 4 rushing players. Argentina mounted some attacks, but were met with good team defense.
Both teams were dominant in both of their wins over the other. This just highlights my point in other threads; on any given day we can see a different result. In the span of 3 weeks we see Argentina totally dominate Brazil, then Brazil totally dominate Argentina with more-or-less the same key players. Argentina was sans Crespo today, who was there in the victory, and Brazil sans Cafu...some different players for both, different game, different approach, different tactics.
This is why watching these two teams play is such a treat, you never know what you're in for.

Soccerates ..... I couldn't agree more with your posts.
If it wasn't for Dida .. Arg might've got an extra motivation factor. I cudn't believe Ronaldinho's goal. Some sloppy defending and an equivalent bit of goal keeping
But Brazil were the deserving winners !!!!!
One thing is sure with Brazil and Argentina, u can ne'er know which version of the team you'll see that day.
But I strongly feel that Pekerman should start with Aimar and Tevez.
