Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
Well.......Argentina & Brasil will play semifinals in the World Youth Fifa Championship and looks like they will play the final in Fifa's Confederation Cup.
Should these Teams give handicap to their rivals in the upcoming World Cup 2006? Like......the game starting 1-0 for the opponent team?
It seems there are a lot of good Teams out there. However, they melt as soon as they advance. Lack of character....when they step in the field and they see the Argie or Brasilian Jerseys they shit their pants.
Anyone can have a lucky day and win against these monster. However, these two are the only ones with consistency.
I know...it sounds stupid but isn't the truth?
peace

Hey, you never know Argentina failed to move on to the secound round in the lat WorldCup. It's just matter of having a game they are capable of. Every one is bound to have bad days and consequently bad games.

Re: Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
You are correct! Brasil and Argentina are the top 2 countries with the best football in the world, without a doubt. This is because South-American football style is the most skillful and complete. These 2 countries have the ability to come back when they are losing.
We all know South-America has the best football in the World!

Re: Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
They are good countries, yes, but European football is overall better. The BEST south america are better than the best Europe. But take Chile, Peru, Venezuela, French Guyana, Ecuador........compare to England, France, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, that speaks for itself

Re: Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
You forgot Uruguay two times world champion, and Chile has a more than decent third place in WC-62. It is always hard for the rest of the southamerican teams to qualify when they have to battle it out with Brazil and Argentina in their OWN countries. That is something very few outside countries have done.

Re: Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
You forgot Paraguay, Colombia, Bolivia, etc... BTW European football overall is NOT better than South American football. You have to be kidding. For one european football lacks individualism, the ability to improvise, and the impressive dribbling skills of South Americans.

I agree with that! As talented as a good portion of the Europeans are, I believe that in general the South Americans demonstrate more skill on the ball than they do, even on teams not from Argentina and Brasil! I truly believe that!

Just because there are more countries in Europe doesn't mean that Europe is "overall better". There are simply more countries in Europe. Hence, there are more oppurtunities for different countries to win major titles in Europe. On the other hand, Brasil and Argentina are big countries. All the European countries that you named are not bigger than Brasil combined. Since Brasil and Argentina are large countries that take up most of the land in South America, there are simply less alternatives. South America also has more world cups than Europe.

Re: Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
*Sigh*, this morning, as the guy on Sportsnet (can't remember his name )was mindful enough to point out, Argentina was the only nation in the world to have a winning record against Brazil. Alas, it is to be no more. I am of course talking about the Confederations Cup final....
...and the topic here is the World Youth Championships? Right time, wrong place I guess. All I can say then is: nice try Argentina. But it just wasn't enough. Wish ya'd won it .
Cheers folks.

Re: Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
That Europe consists of many small countries is not an advantage but the opposite.
There are incredibly good players in Europe, but they are spread all over different countries.
Look at Shevchenko: heīs one of the best strikers of the world, but he will never win a title because he plays for Ukraine...
A country like Brazil has simply more talent because of itīs size: if I combine that many European countries that I have the same population as Brazil, I will have a good chance to form a better team than Brazils.
But I donīt want to start such a pointless discussion, fact is that Brazil is a dominant football team at the moment and it wonīt change within the next years.
That doesnīt mean though that they will win the WC though.

Yes you are right about your pointless discussion. Brazil is the dominant football team at the moment, and don't forget also in the PAST, and in the near future, along with Argentina. And this does not include any european countries.

Based on Geography or Demography China and India should be World Champions all the time...

But football isn't famous there dude. What he meant is if countries like France-Germany etc where to combine they would get more skilled players to chose from. Or if Brazil was divided into 2 the squad strength might not be as it is now.

Re: Argentina & Brasil.....anyone else out there?
I differ. Even Brazil's B team or their bench players will still kick ass! It is not the geographical size or population the factors here, it is the style, the way of living, the talent and skills. South Americans live football and they play it everywhere, at anytime on the streets, any age, under any conditions. This is not to say that they don't do it in Europe or the rest of the world, but I believe they do it more in the Americas.

As much as I argued against German superiority vs Italy, both of these teams are accomplished. If you only want to use the World Cup as your benchmark (something I'm not completely fond of due to the space in between and that it'sonly one month long)...Both Germany and Italy out perform Argentina. So you can ignore them at your own peril. List of European teams that are capable of beating both Argentina and Brazil:
Portugal
England
Italy
Holland
Germany (if in Germany)
