biggest footballing rivalry
Which is the biggest footballing rivalry in the world?
1) Germany - England
2) England - Argentina
3) England - Scotland
4) Brasil- Argentina
5) Holland- Germany
6) Italy - Brasil
7) Croatia - Serbia
8) Japan - South Korea
9) Argentina - Mexico
10) Turkey - Greece
Choose the one of these or add one of your own.
I would say the biggest footballing rivalry is England-Germany

Re: biggest footablling rivalry
I would probably say the South Americans have the most intense rivalries, Argentina and Brazil, throw in Colombia, Uruguay and even Peru, the lesser sides love having the opportunity to topple the likes of Brazil, and their home ground becomes a fortress, with a warzone style atmosphere. The familiarity of the competion in the region paives the way for this, as they are always competing against each other for qualification, unlike the European teams, they are always facing different opposition, and the continuity just isn't their to create a traditional rivalry that can match the South Americans

Brasil-Italy and Argentina-England. Brasil-Argentina not so much if we let aside the whole Maradona vs Pele shit.

Re: biggest footablling rivalry
Shouldn't England - France be on that list as well? I'm not saying that's the biggest but causes a lot of talk in the British press.

the stupid british press is responsible for most of the footballing rivalries. how else could a eng-scotland rivalrt, which has no meaning in footballing terms be so overhyped. Many wars of the 20th centuary were encouraged, if not started by the english press. They tend to stereotype opponents, and take cheap shots at them whene ever they get a chance.

Trust me I know how the british press works, every laziale does. But the English and the French have this rivarly thing going on outside the pitch as well so I would think the NTs are rivals too.
