BIG-MATCH FACTS
# CHELSEA continue their quest for unprecedented quadruple honours with this home Premiership game against Newcastle, knowing that victory from this Saturday lunchtime fixture and 150th Premiership match of the season, will put them eight points clear at the summit for two hours at least. It would also mean that this Chelsea side had collected more points to this stage of the season than in any previous Premier League crusade.
# Mourinho's men, who visit his former club Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday, have lost only once in 23 games in his tenure. They are on the hunt for an 19th victory in all competitions to extend their undefeated sequence to 13 games (seven in the League).
# Claudio Ranieri's Chelsea went on the rampage in this corresponding fixture nearly 13 months ago. Newcastle were dead and buried in the first half after goals from Glen Johnson and Hernan Crespo and a Frank Lampard penalty. Damien Duff notched the goal of the game after 78 minutes and an Eidur Gudjohnsen header wrapped up the scoring six minutes from time in an embarrassing one-sided affair for then manager Sir Bobby Robson. The Blues have won seven and drawn four of their 10 home Premiership meetings.
# NEWCASTLE UNITED know they'll have to make history if they're to close the gap on Chelsea to 13 points. They have never won a Premiership game at Stamford Bridge, but travel determined to avenge last month's Carling Cup defeat at St James' and last season's humiliation in west London.
# Time was the Tyneside club dreaded trips to London, but they travel having not lost a Premiership match in the capital for nearly nine months. Graeme Souness' side match Chelsea, as the joint second highest scorers in the utmost League with 27 goals, but they differ at the other end. While the Londoners own the tightest defence in the division, the north east outfit hold the joint leakiest defence with 27 conceded. Newcastle also will not want to concede the opening goal, because on all five previous occasions when that has happened they've gone on to lose the game.
# The Magpies' only maximum in 16 League visits to the Bridge spanning 21 years was 1-3 in the top flight on 22 November 1986.
---------------------------------------------------------
KEY PLAYER NOTES/POTENTIAL MILESTONES
CHELSEA
# Frank LAMPARD, who continues to break the Premiership's record for successive appearances by an outfield player, is a double short of 50 career League goals, and a hat trick shy of 50 Premiership goals. Should he figure, the England midfielder, will be making his 124th consecutive League appearance.
# If he plays, Njitap GEREMI will be making his 50th appearance for Chelsea.
NEWCASTLE UNITED
# Alan SHEARER, who is a double short of 250 career goals in the Premiership. Eight of the 248 have been against Chelsea.
# Lee BOWYER needs two goals to register 50 career League goals.
# If he figures, Shoala AMEOBI will be making his 100th Premiership appearance for Newcastle.

Re: Premiership: Chelsea vs Newcastle on 12/4
Chelsea 4-0 Newcastle
12/5/04
BBC Sport
Frank Lampard inspired rampant Chelsea to produce a powerful second-half display and strengthen their grip at the top of the Premiership.
Lampard broke the deadlock from close range after 62 minutes to break stubborn resistance from Newcastle.
He then set up substitute Didier Drogba for a second, six minutes later.
Arjen Robben got a solo third in the closing stages and there was still time for Mateja Kezman to score his first Premiership goal from the spot.
It maintained the outstanding form from Jose Mourinho's side and kept them ahead of their closest rivals.
Chelsea captain John Terry thought he had added to the two goals he secured in the 4-0 win at Charlton when he headed Lampard's cross past Shay Given after 14 minutes.
But Chelsea's celebrations were cut short as the goal was ruled out for offside.
Newcastle were more than matching Chelsea, who were unable to strike up any rhythm on an uneven Stamford Bridge surface.
And it needed a fine diving save from Petr Cech to turn away Laurent Robert's 25-yard free-kick.
And Cech was in action again after 24 minutes when he dived at the feet of Craig Bellamy from Kieron Dyer's pass.
Eidur Gudjohnsen wasted the best chance of the game 12 minutes before the interval following a mix-up between Titus Bramble and Ronny Johnsen.
The Icelandic striker had the goal at his mercy but sent a tame finish agonisingly wide.
It was Gudjohnsen's last serious contribution as he was replaced by Drogba at half-time.
Cech again needed to be alert to save another Robert free-kick before Mourinho made a crucial double change on the hour.
He sent on Wayne Bridge and Kezman for Tiago and William Gallas.
And within two minutes Chelsea were ahead, Drogba heading Claude Makalele's pass into Lampard's path for the England midfielder to provide an emphatic finish.
Lampard was only denied another goal by a fine save from Given before he brilliantly created a second for Drogba after 68 minutes.
He sent a brilliant pass into the path of the Ivory Coast striker, who brushed aside Bramble's feeble challenge to steer a left-foot drive beyond Given.
Kezman almost added a third after 72 minutes but the luckless striker struck an upright after good work by Robben and Damien Duff.
Chelsea were in complete command and it was no surprise when Robben added a third with a typical solo finish with two minutes left.
And then, when Given hauled down Duff, Kezman stepped up to cheekily score his first Premiership goal from the spot with a chip over Given.
