Default Boixos Nois ...

Fellas,

"BOIXOS NOIS"

I know very little about this particularly sensitive subject...and probably not a good time to talk about this either, especially after the superclassico cornerkicks-debacle :P

But would anyone of the resident expert-cules please care to expand on this topic a little bit... such as their background, origin, behaviours, cool stories, not-so-cool stories etc etc ?

Olesen10, azul, bier, VivaBarcaInter, funky6, relejado or anyone who knows?

Welcome back forca.

Sorry, but I don't know too much. I can try and recommend a source or two though. Start with the book <i>Barca</i> by Jimmy Burns. I've read only good reviews of it and still can't believe I don't have it yet. Otherwise, you could try the book <i>Morbo</i> by Phil Ball. I'm sure barca can help you out too though.

You can check out their web site for some info on their club. The main part is in Catalan and Spanish, but they have some parts in English.

The web site is full of porn ads and stuff like that, it also seems to dedicate themselves more with worrying and bashing Real Madrid than supporting Barcelona. Not my style

As far as comments or opinions on groups associated with violence or disordely conduct, I reserve them to myself, why would anyone want to hurt someone because of a game? I could never answer that.

Boixos were formed in 1981 and they sit in the South section of Camp Nou behind the goals. They have clubs in Italy and Greece as far as i know consisted of Italians and Greeks and not Catalans or Spanish who live there.

IMO this blame it all to BOIXOS attitude after the Classico was a little bit unfair.Ofcourse there were many of them throwing bottles but not all of them were Boixos members.I don't think they care more about bashing Ìáärid than supporting Barça.They're just a little bit overanti-madridistas as Ultras-Sur in the opposite 4 example.

Compared to those right wings Ultras-Sur, Boixos are many times better though i hate this Hooligan attitude they have(ofcourse they're not totally leftish nor Barça in general as many ppl believe cause it's natural in groups of many ppl). It's true that many ppl say they have started to become really agressive the last years ,going to the games without paying for the tickets etc.I think the board should do smthing in order to bring them back to order.

I would personally never be against any Cule as many Barça fans do against Boixos simply because a Club needs all kind of fans, even the more passionate unless they cause problems.

What i like about them is that i have seen them following every section of the club everywhere. They have been in all the F4s the basketball team has participated in and they follow all the other sections.I also like the atmosphere they create with their numerous huge flags, banners etc.

I guess there are many not so cool stories about them including episodes between them and Espanyol or Madrid fanatics before the games.

If they don't behave like assh**les and not cause problems in the team and continue this great atmosphere behind the goals i have no problem with them,no matter what they do with other maniacs like them outside the field.Barça can't do nothing about it IMO.

I would like to know that too.

They said it depends whetherr this incident will be marked as serious or very serious. Punishment could be very heavy, but I also heard Barca are positive on a good outcome, because the claim that they always pay a lot of attention too safety.

Anybody has news on this?

It's official that Barça won't be able to use Camp Nou for the next 3 (i think) games...It can't get a lot worse.I'm surprised that this (strict i think) decision hasn't been discussed that much.

It seems like everyone has ignored this issue but with so many bad things in Barça lately you don't know what to start with.

Funky6, I like your postings and admire your support for Barcelona supporters, but I have a seriuos issue regarding violence. The Nois, brag about their fights on their web site, on the street demonstrations, on TV and radio interviews. I am all for supporting, but hurting someone, throwing stones etc, is not right, especially when the reason for doing so, is because their targets root for another team.

I know that the Nois are not alone, every team has a group that is extreme and that even inside the Nois there are people that do not advocate the violence. Again, not my style, I root for my team and when we win, is great, when we loose, is not, but I like the game, playing, watching, coaching and writing about it. Not fighting. Also to me is not about being against a cule, but educating that the violence ruins the game.

Finally I have not heard about the closing of the Camp Nou, when did they decide? Did I miss it?

Thanks for the all the replies and comments ppl

In a nutshell, you begin to 'get this topic' somewhat by just looking at this website www.boixosnois.com

Even though it's in Catalan, you'd start to realise what this group is about should you check out just the picture gallery alone, under Multimedia: Imagenes de grada...

The pictures and posters are all something you all barca fans should go through at least once (be warned with a few porn contents sprinkled here and there about), especially for those of us who don't live in the Catalan heartland of Barca, Sant Bois, Terresa etc etc..

Not to say you have to live there to be a fan, but they are different and perhaps they can truly say it's in their blood if they're borned in the football team's city / region..

It'll take me sometime to get thru all of these pics.. and at home not work

AZULGRANA: Those books you mentioned aren't available in Sydney bookshops but I'll go back to the biggest one in city and look for them. I'd love to read these books though, it's always good to read these things as a football fanatic and know the background of your beloved team as well as rivals you'd love to hate and respect at the same time.

Instead of books focusing on powerhouse la liga teams or on spanish soccer in general, there are lots of stuff here on man utd, liverpool, arsenal, nottingham forest etc....

For everyone who don't live in oz, that's because a large no. of soccer fans in Australia are pro-English Premier League, with the Scottish PL and SerieA probably the next most popular, mostly due to our British colonial background and a large number of Italian immigrants who came during the 50-60s. Add to the fact that football had only gotten good TV coverage here from the 80s and 90s onwards, so at that time the dominance of Italian teams in Europe had gotten lots of new followers' attention..

Nowadays the fanbases haven't really changed but people would hopefully probably start to realise there are Barcas, Madrids, Valencias, Depors etc on the football landscape, who weren't household names like Man Utd or AC Milan...until now hopefully... as we not only get a good dose of EPLs but in addition a lot of Champions Leagues on cable and free-to-air in the last few years... although only one full la liga game a week on cable is shown which is much too little, so if only football fans here could SEE how attractive and competitive the Spanish league is, as opposed to just hearing about it all the time from the press

These books are readily available here in the States either. You should try the oz version of amazon.com. As for Phil Ball's stuff (<i>Morbo</i> and <i>The White Storm</i>), you can check out the thread of his column that I have in this forum to get an idea of his writing.

G'day again fellas,

just a few thoughts after checkin out lots of pics on boixosnois.com :

The images obviously show they are 'ultras' with a grand dose of passion, extremism and hatred towards the madridistas throughout all these years.. lots of spontaneous displays of their barca-love and catalan nationalism with flags, banners and flares..in the camp nou and outside of it... probably causing lots of trouble and costing unnecessary police efforts along da way..

But their passion seemed to have die down a bit IMO. I'm not able to read the rest of the site but that's what you sort of sense if you just go thru the pictures section alone in chronological order and notice how the stadium celebrations in the last few years had started to become relatively dull..

Pics from the Venables, Aragones and the Cruyff-era of 80s-90s show a genuine stadium-wide affection towards the team. Pics from Bobby Robson's and van gaal's 1st barca period there're less...almost no flares in the crowd but at least you could still see the confetti and placards in regular big games

But these days, according to funky6, they sit only behind the goal of the south-section, and this is kinda confirmed at least from my TV experience where they seem to wave only a few big flags and a taunting banner or two occasionally but nothing else

Maybe it's the new laws and police crackdowns? or maybe it's to do with the bigger picture of how the club's going at the moment or becoming for the fans in the last few years.. Results aren't as good, silverwares getting scarce, foreign players forming more than half of the squad (which I have no problem with football-wise)..

Sorry ... just noticed this thread now since I'm usually browsing the stickys.
Well I dunno much about the Boixos anyway. I just read the other day in the book "Barça-a people's passion" by Jimmy Burns that some former member said they were fascists in his eyes and that their attitude is against blacks and jews. Well obviously I can't tolerate that.
I don't support Hooliganism in common anyway.

I'm agains Hooliganism(it's kitch except all the others) and racism too ofcourse but i'm also against putting big groups of ppl under a word like"fascists" or ''communists'' etc.

Ofcourse there are some fascists in Boixos,as well as ppl wit other political beliefs,as well as kids etc.You can't avoid it but i don't think Boixos officially think of them selves like fascists.

If we blame Boixos for that what can we say about Ultras-Sur and Curva Nord of Lazio(pathetic both)
