Default What's wrong with the Italian fans?

Hey Guys,
Though I live in India I am a big fan of Italian football. But I cannot understand why most stadiums are left with empty seats during the league season in the less important games. Stadiums in England are packed with fans cheering their teams even during smaller games and also if their team is not doing very well. Just take an example of Italy's last game against Slovenia. Only 13,000 fans were present and a large part of them came from Slovenia. Why do we see such empty stadiums during matches in a calcio-crazy country like Italy?

well i think on average we get more spectators at serie A events compared to the premiership. it just looks like they're always half empty because our stadiums seat much more than the english which for the most part hold 35-40,000. some italian stadiums have a capacity of 70,000.

The San Siro seats 85000+. It's a case of supply and demand, in England there's more fan demand for seats than there are seats while in Italy there's more seats than there are fans.

The Nou Camp and the Bernabeu has empty seats in champion's league matches too, so it's not just in Italy.

And someone tell me why is the playing surface at the San Siro always so crap? Why can't the council just sell the San Siro to Milan so they can take care of it like Barca does to the Nou Camp or Arsenal to Highbury?
