Default Atletico Madrid fans are morons

It has been revealed that the Atletico Madrid fan base is torn between "loving" and "hating" Diego Forlan. The reasons? You'll laugh.

"Forlán declaró su amor al club con goles y con un despliegue físico terrible, a veces ganando partidos él solo. Pero nunca salió a los medios y dijo a viva voz: 'Amo al Atlético de Madrid por encima de todas las cosas'. Y eso es algo que la afición, al menos el sector más pasional, no perdona".

Sum up: Forlan has given goals and unmatched effort on the pitch for Atletico Madrid. However , fans seem to be furious that he has never come out to declare his "Love for Atletico Madrid", also hating him (still even after all he did for them last year), for flirting at a transfer to Real Madrid when he was still in Villarreal.

The article continues: Forlan is a loner by nature. It is very difficult for him to come out to social gatherings with the club. It's just part of his personality. His only real friend in the dressing room is the Portuguese Simao. However, he has never shown anything but respect to the club , players and fans. He is one of the only players never to have arrived ether a) late or b) drunk to a football practice.

Apparently Diego is happy at the club, but recent issues with the media and fans seem to have taken their toll on Diego. The article quotes 1 other media source that thinks Diego has done all that he could with Atletico and should move on to pursue other goals with another club.

I respect Diego's preferences. There are players who show up to clubs and kiss the crest immediately as if it means anything to them. Diego is a professional and a class act. Atletico Madrid fans will 100% miss him when he's not there anymore to bail their asses out. They should be on their knees thanking him for the Europa league title. What a bunch of ingrates.

I don't know about what you are saying, but they are surely skittish. I remember how me and a friend of mine ousted 6-7 of them in the Athens old town when they came for the CL qualifiers

They were walking around and chanting songs for their club. When they approached us we started walking towards them screaming some slogans for Panathinaikos and Real Madrid Some of them said something to us in Spanish but they did not came closer to us, they left through an alley.

I did not even expect this behavior to be honest

It was August that time and because of this they were not many Greeks roaming in the old town. So someone should tell them that the supporters of any Panathinaikos opponent should not be chanting for their club inside the Athens proper

I'd like him to stay. Why do some feel that just because you've won a lot with the club, you should leave and repeat it elsewhere? As long as he delivers for the club, is happy there and not getting tired and/or need a rebirth, he should stay.

Most fans are like this, no doubt if he scores an important goal soon they'll start loving him again. They should be happy they have a world class player such as himself on their books, without him they'd have never won the Europa League.

I'd be more then happy to have Diego at Aston Villa, if they don't want him.

All the Atleti fans I know love him.

But I sort of understand why they could dislike him sometimes. He does go through dry spells where he contributes nearly nothing during games. Like the first half of last season and right now. The effort is appreciated, but there needs to be results/contributions at such a big club. While Kun has been injured, he hasn't done anything and a guy like Diego Costa is outplaying him.

Also, Forlan is leaving his options open. If he was playing for my club and talking about how he would love to play in the EPL in the future, I would be pissed too.

Sorry, did you just accidently type the words "Big club"? "Effort is appreciated". Jesus christ. I remember when Uruguay lost 5-0 to Colombia, and people were giving Diego a standing ovation for the effort that he gave. Atletico fans need to get their perspectives right. The guy has said time and time again that he's happy with Atletico. He said : "Sure , I loved England so would consider to go there again in the future some day". That's it.
Is that any reason to hate on the guy who has given more to their club than any other player has in like 50 years? FFS. This reminds me of when Batistuta won the schudetto with Roma in 2000, basically carrying the team on his shoulders. 1 year later, he has a slow year and the Roma fans start throwing projectiles onto the pitch. ***k that.

That's 1 of the reasons I love Uruguayan fans. All they ask for is effort. Even when Uruguay was doing terribly in the last qualifiers, people always applauded every single Diego run, even if it led to nothing. VERY few players give the type of effort Diego does. Even if he doesn't score ever again for Uruguay, I will forever be in his debt and would never "boo" or jeer him.

"Big club" is a relative term. Atleti has a higher standard that most clubs.

And I don't think Atleti fans hate him. It must be a small and insignificant minority. But they might not be happy with him, as they should be when he is underperforming.

I also think your thread is distasteful and offensive.

They should have no reason to be upset with him. The lack of respect is baffling. You would never see 1 United fan boo Paul Scholes. At worst, they'd bench him after playing the worst 1/2 season of his life. It's called respect and gratitude. Atletico Madrid might not have a player like Diego for another 100 years, and they boo him because he's having 3-4 weak games?

I respect your opinion man, but you shouldn't be so sanctimonious. People can get upset, you know.

I know they were really provocative towards Galatasaray when we faced them, they chanted "puto Turcos" and had some provocative pictures.

Lol, they are a bunch of racist punks and terrorist lovers aswell. They had PKK (kurdish terrorists) flags and had slogans saying "Turkey is not Europe" and chanted "Puto turcos". They did all this things when our fans didn't even do anything to them from the first place, they started provocating us from nowhere.

Our fans outsang them in Madrid and they only showed up with 12 fans in Istanbul bunch of racist cowards. Sure not all of them, but their biggest firm (if they even got one) are punks.

GS fans don't swear their opponents during the games?

I agree that Atletico fans are generally skittish provocators, I am just saying about the chanting part
