Then GS4ever says GFs cost more than prostitutes (which is categorically wrong... if you go for a girl who is money-grubbing then perhaps, but there are as many, if not more men who are that way than women anyway... just don't go for that kind of girl/generalize so much), then someone says the prostitutes have sex too much and have STDs and stuff, then GS4ever starts going off on how all girls are essentially prostitutes anyway, which is also just... wrong on so many levels, but you guys will roll with it and then, once again, a two-day debate about prostitutes will ensue

Anyway, the debate should just end here, for the sake of avoiding repetition. As far as the morality of prostitution; Sex is sex, we all have it/want to have it/(try to) force ourselves to believe we don't want to have it (in the case of a sad few), but the bottom-line is that if a woman believes that the only way she can gainfully employ herself is to objectify herself to such a degree that she becomes a sex object for others, it is a sad condemnation against humanity. Criminalization is always the solution, it seems, but I also disagree with it. I think we need to address the 'causes' of prostitution, which are essentially 'psychological.' For the prostitutes there is a sense of self-limitation, which could be attributed to the failure of our education system/social safety net/sense of being active participants in honest and decent local economies/communities. There is a sense of self-objectification, which comes from the over sexualization of our popular cultures, collectively, around the world. I'm not 'religious' about sex, but I do believe it is essentially a private act that needs to remain as such, and I think the manner in which companies, for example, use sex to psychologically manipulate would-be consumers is just disgusting, and that doesn't even get into popular music, TV, movies, video games, etc... Again, I love sex more than many, and in some ways I think it deserves a 'larger role' in society, but it doesn't mean that it has a place in every facet of our lives, and I think ultimately this needs to be addressed on the macro-scale if any headway is to be made in terms of fixing any kind of social issues related to 'sex' or 'sexual deviants,' whatever you assume such a person to be or have done.

For me, to view your body as something to be bought or sold in that way is a kind of slavery, though the traditional concept of slave/slave-master are clearly being confronted on a totally different level.

As far as the person who 'purchases' the prostitute. It's sad, for me, that a person could objectify another to such a degree, but for me the real element of desperation that comes to mind is that in a sense they're objectifying themselves by replacing what would/could/(should?) be special experiences in one's life with 'purchased' ones. It's even sadder when the girl is a done-up 'pin-up' girl like the ones posted earlier, because then it becomes an entirely fabricated 5 -??? minutes (That depends on... things) of 'sexual encounter' with, essentially, a socially-constructed image of what it is you think you want based on the images of a 'woman' that have been branded into your mind from the pop cultural images that I discussed earlier. It's like virtual 3D or something, and it probably ultimately works to desensitize you to the real thing/actual value of love/mutual respect for your partner/concern for your eventual immediate family/etc/etc/etc...

Prostitutes and purchasers aren't criminals, just merely a sign that humanity is off-track...
