Default Reyna to Aston Villa ?

REYNA ADMITS VILLA INTEREST, GERS DENY BID
    by Graeme Bailey

    EXCLUSIVE
CLAUDIO REYNA has admitted that he is aware that Aston Villa are interested in signing him, but Rangers have denied receiving any approach.
The 28-year-old American international was linked with Villa last week and following the USA's World Cup qualifying victory - which secured their spot in Japan and Korea - he admitted to being aware of some interest from England.

"I honestly don't know much, I have not spoken to my agent for a week. I wanted to concentrate on this match, so I purposely didn't call him," Reyna told planetfootball.

"I'll find out when I get back on Tuesday. I know there have been talks, but I don't even know between whom."

"I understand they have expressed some interest in me. But at what level I don't know."

The former Bayer Leverkusen man did admit, though, that he was more than happy to stay at Ibrox.

"Definitely I want to stay," he continued. "But I don't currently have a contract.

"We have been talking with them but nothing has been finalised.

"I would be very happy to stay with Rangers and to finish out my career there. They have been good to me and my family and we like Scotland.

"I have to get back to find out what's going on."

Rangers chairman David Murray told planetfootball.com that he had not received an approach from Villa.

"I don't know of any bid, there was something in the papers about it, but that is as much as I have heard," Murray said.

"We have not had an approach from Aston Villa about Reyna."

i have mixed emotions on this if he were to go. At Rangers he is on a team that basically makes it to the Champione League every year but in the domestic league other then Cletic there is no high quality opponent and that shows every year in the Champions League because both Celtic and Rangers almost always bow out early. If hew goe to the premiership he will have higher quality opponent at the domestic level but probally wont see Champions League so i really dont know how to think of it either way there are pluses and minuses

It would be good for the US national team if he went to Villa because he would become a better player. But if he wants trophey's, he should stay where he is. However there is more money in England. And if he does well at Villa, there is a chance he could get a call from one of the big clubs. I think that he could be a valuable guy to have on the bench, especially for a team like Leeds who don't really have a creative midfielder in the center of their midfield (batty and dacourt). But before this could happen he would really have to do well at Villa.

I disagree, I think that if more players of USA like Reyna etc, will maybe sit in the bench but play for big clubs, I think that
    1) they have a better chance for showing themself, and
    2) he will learn a lot more. And will feel better PSY wide. Just look at Totti, he was a bench player for Roma and now he is TOTTI, worth abolut 130 Billion liras at least and one of the best players in the world. I think that if he would have stayed in Ladigiana, he would be no one. So lets hope good.

reyna is 28 now if hew was 19-23 years old i would agree but he is not and it will do him no good to sit on the bench

At his current age, the bench would hurt him.

He is 28? ok, Well than to stay at Real for example for like 1 seaon it would ok, dont you think? I mean he would get loads of experience anyway. But other than Reyna, to me the US players, given the soccer situations of the USA, should start playing elsewhere.
