Default Argentina Thinking They Are a "Great" Team Now

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...na/5044138.stm

Read for yourself. Argentina is full of confidence now and thinking they are a great team. This is good because, knowing the Argentinians, they will underestimate Holland for the next game. If Holland plays well and win, Argentinian confidence will crash hard to below ground level. Then they will play their first knockout game with their morale very low. This will increase the chances of them being back on a plane to Argentina early in the WC.

Ok, Picagrande.... after playing like that what team wouldn't feel confident. Its not how many goals were scored, its how the goals were scored! Argentina played brilliant-stylish-cartwheeling football. Something that even the great Brazilian team of Ronaldinho-Kaka-Adriano-Ronaldo have struggled to do! Go watch the game again... and weep.

BTW, don't count on the Argies being overconfident ever again... 2002 is something we'll never forget. So you can forget about us slacking in the next game. PLUS, Pekerman is a man who knows how to handle a team in a tournament; go check out the 1995, 1997, 2001 YWCs results.

    Good luck...

What PicaGrande says may be reasonable, but honestly I don't find the players thinking that way. This groups seems to be humble and low profile, and that is great. It didn't happen in the last 3 WC and there you have the results.

I'm sure Arg will make a great role this WC.

It is ok that the Argentinians are getting confidence from the 6-0 win. But it is rightfully so. Agreed, the Serbians didn't play well, but the Argentinians played outstanding. I don't think they are getting overconfident. I see them going far now.

They have every right to be thinking they are great. Serbia isn't a half-way team, they are very strong and to beat a team of that capacity 6-0 you gotta be great.

do they really care about playing holland well? i figure they'll probably play portugal or mexico in the next round and would prefer to stay healthy than to risk injuries when they have already qualified for the next round.

The difference isn't so much in the 2nd round as it is in the quarters and semis. If England and Brazil finish 1st in their respective groups, we have to finish 1st in our group to avoid facing either team until the final round.

Otherwise, we may have to face Portugal, England, and Brazil to get to the finals.

There is still plenty to play for.

This team can go all the way.No doubt.that was an amazing performance .I only saw the first half becuase it was 11.00pm here in Australia and I saw enough for them to have comfortably won.Didn't know that they would bang another 3 in the second.I actually got uo to watch the next game against holland at 2.00am.Argentina are unbeatable at the moment and can go all the way.So far best performance. There are some teams who are really looking good now.good luck.

Argentina's players feel they have've played a great game, but can you blame them!?

They completely destroyed the Serbs, and if there was a mercy rule in football, then it would've definitely been used today.

If you read the playe'rs quotes and their coach, you'll see that they are playing down this victory because they haven't accomplished anything yet.

I think Pekerman will bring his players back to Earth in the next couple of days, but for now they should celebrate a much deserved victory.
