SVEN'S SIDE ALREADY IN PLACE (sky Sports)

Sven Goran Eriksson has revealed that he already knows what England side he will send into battle with Albania and Finland.

The Swede has taken charge of just one game but insists he has all but decided on his side for the World Cup qualifier in Tirana on March 24.

Eriksson used 18 players in the 3-0 success over Spain at Villa Park with the likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand and David James playing just 45 minutes.

Even though the squad trained with the manager for only two days, Eriksson has higher hopes than when he left Lazio to replace Kevin Keegan.

He told Swedish paper TT: "I feel more confident now than two months ago when I first came here.

"We have played one international now, and I know more or less how my starting line up will be in the next games.

"But there might be some changes, as there are European games to be played this week."

One man not involved in European action who clearly made an impression on the Swede is Charlton's Chris Powell.

The 31-year-old left back had an impressive debut before coming off injured at half-time and has been singled out by the England boss.

He said: "Chris Powell had a great game at left-back against Spain. He's never played junior, Under-21 or full international football, so I was very pleased with his performance.

"I think it's sometimes good that a manager doesn't have a 'favourite team' or 'favourite player' when he picks his side."
