say if im a defender and the attacker is much faster than me wat shud i do. im an attacker but i juz want to know they wud do so i can counter that move. especially in tight areas like corner or sidelines cos i play 7 a-side n the pitch is obviously smaller.

I am a defender im only 15 but my club coach tells me to play in advance and when u see the ball going to the forward close him so he cant turn on u and use his speed on u....when the ball is flighted once i see the man's head who has the ball go down i immedietly go back to get a few more steps ahead of the attacker

Then the defender gets burnt.

But speed is not a 'move' it is a skill, and if you can't stop him before he gets buy you, then you don't have a chance. But whatever you do, stay square with him, and do NOT turn your shoulder to him, because he will cut and you will be burnt.

Alright, I'm very very quick player, once I turn on my speed, I've never seen anyone catch up to me before, but there are defenders who can counter my speed all the time. When you have an attacker trying to get by you, you need to use your body, slow him down by getting yourself infront of him, use your arms, and just contain him, untill he gets unpatient, and tries to make a move. If he does seem liek he's going to get around you and burn him, then you should try to pull off a smart foul, if you're not in a dangerous spot. But like I said, you can easily stop someones speed by straying infront of them, they are going to need some space in order for them to get up to their full speed.

Generally the attacker is faster than the defender. This as such is not much of a probelm, becuase with the ball a persons speed is reduced. A much slower dfender shouldnt go in for the tackle, and should just stick with the forward and let him try to 'trick' his way across. This reduces chance of getting burnt. But if it is one on one, and match is really important, and the forward much faster, go for the plunge and kick the ball out. Failing which do a professional foul and not in a bad way/from behind, so as to get only a yellow.

Yea nachii had a good point...almost 90% of the time the attacker is already at full speed when he reaches the defender, and the defender is standing still, and has to start from a stand-still to try to catch up with him.

But if you want to use his speed against him, just stand infront of him, don't even bother about the ball, just stand infront of him, if he hits you fall down, and you get a free kick.
