Recoba the Incridble!
Barcelona crushed as Forlan delivers a double

DIEGO Forlan put Barcelona to the sword last night as he scored twice in Villarreal’s 3-0 humbling of the Spanish league leaders. The Uruguayan, demonstrating a verve he rarely showed during his spell with Manchester United, put Villarreal ahead with a rasping shot in the 30th minute which the keeper could not stop.

Gonzalo Rodriguez put them further ahead early in the second half before Forlan sealed a miserable night for the Catalans with three minutes left.

Real Madrid closed the gap on Barcelona to seven points with a 3-0 win across town at rivals Atletico. Two from Ronaldo and one from Santiago Solari kept new coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo on the winning trail.

In Serie A, Inter Milan scored three goals in the last seven minutes at the San Siro to seal an incredible 3-2 win over Sampdoria yesterday.

Fourth-placed Inter, unbeaten in 17 games before the match, trailed 2-0 to goals from Max Tonetto and Vitali Kutuzov by the Genoa club.

Roberto Mancini’s side then struck three times in six minutes through Nigerian Obafemi Martins, Christian Vieri and Uruguayan Alvaro Recoba whose superb winner came in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Inter are still 13 points behind leaders Juventus, who beat Livorno 4-2 at the Stadio Delle Alpi with two goals from Italy winger Mauro Camoranesi and they now have a four-point lead over AC Milan who drew 0-0 at Palermo.
