Diouf left out of Liverpool's US tour...

The future of Senegal's El-Hadji Diouf at Liverpool suffered another set-back when he was left out of the squad to tour the United States.
Liverpool are heading to the US to play three pre-season friendly matches and will take on Celtic of Scotland, Portuguese side Porto and Italians Roma.
The Senegal striker has not been given a squad number for the new campaign by boss Rafael Benitez with new boy Djibril Cisse now wearing the number nine shirt Diouf wore last season.
All the signs seem to point to the fact that the £10m (US $18.5m) misfit has no future at Liverpool. It has been a bad week for the former African Footballer of the Year after a Celtic fan announced he was suing the player over a spitting incident in the Uefa cup last year.
He has been a major let down after joining Liverpool from Lens just after the 2002 World Cup and former boss Gerard Houllier recently described Diouf as the biggest disappointment of his time at the club.
Benitez dropped a big hint about Diouf's future earlier this week when he revealed he had only spoken to three players about their futures since arriving. One, Markus Babbel, has already joined Stuttgart, while full back Gregory Vignal, on loan in Spain last season was another. The third was Diouf, whose on and off-field behaviour eventually cost him the backing of Houllier.
Benitez named all his star names, including the six players on Euro 2004 duty.

I think that him losing his squad number and now being left at home whilst the other players go for their pre-season tour in America signals his departure from Liverpool before long.

or maybe the team didnt see any use in risking him getting injured to play in a country where so few people follow european soccer ( or any soccer for that matter )

It's sad that these things are happening to him, but maybe it's time for him to look for another club, besides in Liverpool he never has had continuity. He's a great player and should look for a club that can appreciate his abilities.

But then, why take players such as Owen and Hyypia who are even more important to the team than Diouf? Diouf doesn't play any more anyway. To me, this is significant, I think it definitely signals his departure.

Where would you send Diouf? I mean hes been left out alot and even under a new coach he doesnt get to go to the US so you have to wonder ... any suggestions for a possibly clubless Diouf?

There was talk a little while ago here in the UK that he would go to Malaga in Spain and play for the team there. But a possible deal in that has so far not progressed at all, so now I doubt it. Apart from that, I've heard no news about his possible new club (that is if he leaves Liverpool at all this season - he should imo).
