Roberto Mancini has finally signed a 2 year contract with Lazio. Mancini will be presented this afternoon at Formello to the media. A statement from Lazio announced that Mancini has accepted the coaching position offered to him by Crag.
The statement was revealed after a board meeting had rubber-stamped the appointment, and had "explained (to Zaccheroni) the reasons that have made it necessary to name a new coach to the first team."
What are your thoughts?
He knows Lazio inside out.He not only played in Lazio but he was also an assistant manager.He will know our playing style.
I think he will fit pretty well! lets hope he have the same thoughts and ideas like SGE
He can't be any worse than Zac. He really does know Lazio and was working beside Eriksson, so I'm staying positive. Next season just has to be better!
I`m beginnig to warm up for the idea as well.
He really canīt be that bad. Atleast he will give 1000% to the club and what`s most important, the players will give 1000% to him (atleast those who played with him; I know that Nesta really looks up to him).
And as MarieL said, he can`t be worse than Zac.

Roberto Mancini was presentated yesterday to the media and after speaking to the journalists he also met the 3.000 fans who was at Formello to welcome their hero, some years ago as player and from now on as hopefully a successful coach.

Mancini fact file:
1964: Born on November 27, Jesi, Italy.
1981: Makes debut for Bologna as 17-year-old and goes on to score nine goals in 30 matches in 1981/82 season.
1982: Signs for Sampdoria and begins 15-year love affair with then-Serie A club. Scores four goals in 22 matches in his first season.
1985: Helps Samp to Coppa Italia triumph.
1988: Wins second Coppa Italia.
1989: Wins third Coppa Italia.
1989/90: Reaches double figures for first time in his career, scoring 11 goals in 31 games, but is a loser as Barcelona beat Samp 2-0 in European Cup Winners' Cup final in Gothenburg.

THE STAFF IS RETURNING.
Alberto Zaccheroni brought his own staff to Lazio, but as he was fired, also his staff had to leave. Now with Mancini, the staff that had an important part of Lazio's success in the past years will return.
Fernando Orsi will become Mancini's vice coach. Luciano Spinosi will be part of the technical staff and Ivan Carminati will return to be the responsible of the physio staff.
Former Lazio hero Angelo Gregucci could become involved in the staff, but that hasn't been decided yet.
Mancini's return is a good thing:
1)it will appease the fans
2)most of our players believe in him so does Mancini believe in our players.
3)He will bring back coaches like Orsi and Spinosi.
Roberto Mancini admitted he was "touched" by the reception he received from Lazio fans on his first day back, and vowed not to let them down.
Thousands of supporters turned up to Formello to welcome him as their new coach.
The former Lazio player and assistant manager told reporters at a press conference he was certainly "happy to be back" but was also keenly aware that he had to deliver.
"I am touched, I hope I don't let people down. I see the fans enthusiasm, I want to thank Lazio for the chance," he said.
"My aim is to give Lazio what I gave them as a player."
Mancini takes over a side that was deeply disappointing this season.
They finished sixth in the league and crashed out of the Champions League at the first group stage.
They did at least avoid the indignity of the Intertoto Cup by clinching a UEFA Cup place with a 4-2 win over Inter Milan on the final day.
Mancini added: "I haven't spoken about the future (with President Sergio ragnotti), but considering we are not doing the Intertoto, we can organise ourselves better.
"We want to create a good squad."
The former Sampdoria star also feels he has learned a lot from his spell in charge of Fiorentina in the 2000-01 season.
"I have had already had the opportunity to manage in Serie A with Fiorentina and I wish to thank them," he said.
"I have an experience as manager, I know what type of relationship I need with players.
"I want the best from the players, and I will give my best to reach the aims we want to."
