Stefano Fiore is living a magical moment; goals, great performances and above all the ability to express himself wonderfully in a role, indeed two, that are not his: as a left or right midfielder:
"It is now more than a year that I play in this role as a typical outside midfielder. By now I am accustomed to it, above all thanks to the mister that first of all has convinced me that I'm able to do it. Strangely, thanks to this new position on the field, I have found my way back to the National team ".


This is Stefano Fiore speaking to the microphone of a Roman radio station, Radio Incontro, the day after the victory, suffered but deserved, against Chievo: "There was a little suffering but, in our favor, I must say that the three points are more than deserved in the end. The goal arrived in a lucky way, but previously and also after that we had more than one chance to score ".


This time again the call by Trap to the Azzurri arrives at the crucial match for the euro 2004 qualifiers against Azerbadjian: "I am very happy for the call up. The critical moment, when I made the jump from a provincial team to a great team like Lazio, has passed now. The past season has been more than positive, this year I aim on doing even better in order to win something with Lazio and in order to conquer a place as a starter in the National team. I have a year in order to realize these desires ".


Fiore is one of those players that can make the difference, with a shooting capability from distance and a shot with effect: "yes it's true, but I mainly try to put my qualities to the service of the team. Technical moves just so that I can shine on my own do not interest me and are not needed. We are a great team - we are in a position of fighting with all the big guns for whichever goal. The critics that see us as inferior to the candidates for the final victory in the league and in the Champions are making a mistake. We knew that after last year's praises they expected us to drop, but we are working a lot and we will not surrender when faced with any eventual difficulties. I am well at Lazio -repeats Fiore-, I have found a great atmosphere and true friends. It was easy for me to turn down big offers because Lazio believed in me and were the first to give me a chance to play football at the highest level and I have some gratitude towards the club that helped me. Fiore really is a splendid player, on and off the pitch. He knows what team brought out the best in him, and he's smart enough to let the fans know that too. I just hope we never let him go, coz that has just become a bad habit.
