Kluivert i very vital for Barca, because he makes a lot of goals, but without Rivaldo, the brazilian touch and style would be gone, and Barca would just be a good team, not the one with Rivaldo.
In this season, Barca has counted on the youth, and thats a good thing. They will probably end on the third place, but it's a good result considering that it's a hole new team with a lot of young players. But the youth can't work without a mentor or a teacher, and i think Rivaldo will be the best teacher for the young players. And on the same time, he's one of the best football'ers ever! But Kluivert is the perfect forward!

I'd take Kluivert over Rivaldo. Rivaldo is getting older and it seems injuries are catching up with him. Kluivert had a great season and scored a lot of goals. He really worked his socks off against Real in the CL semifinal game 1.

Rivaldo won't garner too much in the transfer market. Lazio used to be interested. I would see if they'd swap Mendieta for Rivaldo. What do you think???

If Rivaldo should transfer, Barca should buy an absolute topplayer, not Mendieta. Barca doesn't need a player who has to find him self again like Mendieta, because he hadn't had a good season in Italy at all. If Barca should switch players with a club it should be Man Utd. and Beckham. I know it's too late because he is injured and have signed a new contract with United, but i think Beckham was, before the injury, the best player to play for Barca.
I know many thinks this is wrong, but i'd wish Figo came back!

That's why I said SWAP him for Mendieta. Then, you still have the regular pool of available transfer funds to bring in someone else.

Mendi Lopez and Simeone are off to AT Madrid. I think anyone likes a player like Riva, stil over Kluivert its hard. I woudl choose kluivert, has in Geovanni is not bad and I think he will be the direct sub of Riva.

Rivaldo is still, after all, very vital for Barca's results in the league and CL. He scores many important goals, and i don't think he's getting old! And i don't think Beckham would be that much more expensiv. And i still think Mendieta is overrated, Rivaldo is still a lot better than he is! They are also two different types of players. Rivaldo as the magician, and Mendieta as the Captain. If they swapped, who should Barca buy then?

Trust me, Rivaldo will not fetch more than 15 million pounds on the market. I personally still think he's got it, but unless he signs an extension, we should sell him this summer or we'll get even less later on. I dont' think he's too old, but if he doesnt' sign an extension he will be too old to get good money for him.

Yes, Mendieta had a poor season last year. However, it was his first season in Serie A and he played with Lazio to boot. I know he is a different player than Rivaldo, but he's still very good. He was great with Valencia and also for Spain at Euro 2000. He can play in a number of different positions to boot.


I don't know who Barca would buy to replace Rivaldo. I don't think there are too many similar players out there. I'd like to see them go in for Tristan. Ruud van Nistelroy was a rumoured target, but I doubt he'd be for sale much less leave Man Utd for Barca.

I'm not a Geovanni fan at all. I think we paid too much for him and he has underperformed.

That's right! Rivaldo makes Barca play better, even when he's injured. Without him, Barca wouldn't be in the world elite. Then Barca would just be a regular team.

He didn't play for more than half of this season and they were better than last year. As I've said before, I don't want to see him leave. However, if he doesn't sign an extension to his contract, sell him now while you can still get something. No player is bigger than the club.

I posted that days ago. Anyway, the latest rumour i've read is that he could be going to Lazio in a deal that would bring Crespo and Mendieta to Barca. I'm sure Lazio would be getting cash as well.
