micheal owen & henrik larsson are the best strikers in the world, and they both (owen even more so) are most certainly better than any italian sh*t-head strikers.

Juventus already beat Celtic this year in the Champions League 3-2. and then lost to them 4-3 in the final game of group stage where it meant nothing for Juventus and were barely trying and had their bench play the game.

He may not be the best in the world, but unlike the mentioned others, he has a world cup and a europan championships medal to his name. Also the team he is playing in got a hell of a lot further in europes most prestigous tournament then any of them.
This isnt an Italy v Europe arguement. i just wanted to point that out. Not bad for an inferior keeper!!

we'll see how good he is at the world cup. any good goal scorer can go to that mickey mouse league and make it happen, but the world cup is a different story.

U SURELY can't be serious can you?? What has Larsson ever done, apart from being top scorer in a league that makes the Danish league look world class (no offence to any Danish football league fans). And don't even get me started on that little shit Owen. He has pace and that is all! He is not even a world class player, along with Larsson, let alone one of the best strikers in the world!

How does the national team or he plays for have any relevance to how good a player he is. Christophe Dugarry was in these squads, does that make him a better player than, say, Del Piero?? I don't think so.

Ofcourse Italy has the best player in the world. Roberto Baggio stays at home. Does anyone need more proofs.
You italians are arrogant. That is the fact. Well at the end...you will lose again. like Hector Cuper, you are just like he is.

ive just joined and ive been reading what red bandit and italian boy have been saying,i like italian football but i am a celtic supporter (aswell as acmilan) but juventus only beat celtic in turin because of amoruso's dive, celtic were the better team. for celtic to go to turin and play the way did is amazing and why cant anyone give them the respect they deserve. they beat juve, man u,leeds, arsenal, ajax and people say oh,the game didnt mean anything or it was only a friendly, who cares for a team like celtic to play a full strength juve side and lose by a dodgy goal and a full strength man u side and beat them deserves some bloody respect. dont bother saying it didnt mean anything it was only a friendly,if celtic are so crap it wouldnt have happened. if celtic got into the premierleague they would finish higher than leeds and chelsea.

well he scored more than owen, henry, trezeguet, cisse, (werent those 3 top scorers in their leagues, yes thats right), inzaghi, crespo, batistuta.they are all world class strikers and larsson did more than them

he did and he proved me wrong. i just wish he would go to a league where he would be challenged more. the scottish league is crap and you know it.

the scottish league is crap but celtic arent and i think they've proved that
fulham

celtic are good but it would be better if they had to prove it more often. i know they are talking about moving to the english league or something like that. in the english league almost every week is a hard game as opposed to scotland where it is always a two horse race.

Michael Owen at this stage should not be considered a World class striker. What has he actually done on the World stage?? The only decent goal he scored was the one against an inept Argentine defense in 1998. His goal this against Brazil was nothing more than a gift. He is like Inzaghi, they profit from mistakes made by other players. The only thing going for that little pathetic being(Owen) is he is fast. Until he is able to score consistantly and score true goals(ones that r actually earned/created through his own work) will he have any chance of being considered a elite striker
I personally think Shevchenko is probably the best striker in the World today. Other contenders would be Raul, Vieri and Montella. Though I always liked George Weah when he was at his prime.

so what do you think of his hat trick agaisnt germany? he almost averages one goal every two games at international level do you just think all of those were gifts?

Scoring a hat-trick in a one sided game does not make u a World class striker. That was such a lopsided match (5-1), u certainly would expect the bulk of your goals to be scored by your striker. Being a World class striker is not just about scoring large amounts of goals in one sided routs. We need to take into account the manner and way in which the goals were scored. Everything needs to be put into perspective, eg if Belgium play San Marino and Mpenza scores a hat-trick in a 7-0 rout, does that elevate Mpenza to World Class status?
Aside from that hat-trick, what else has Owen really done??? I have only seen one truly good goal from him.

06-24-2002, 03:18 PM
he's scored alot of big goals. i don't think a goal has to be pretty to be counted and if you watched that game you would have seen that the only thing that separeted the teams was good finishing. to compare germany to san marino is a joke. owen has scored agaisnt good teams. do you want me to count friendlies or just world cup.
Sheva7
06-24-2002, 04:51 PM
i dont think owens that good any more either,2 seasons ago i'd say he was wordl class and in 98 he was good but now he's not. strikers dont have to score good goals just score them but you want your striker to work more, like ronaldo does. personally i think the best strikers are ronaldo, shevchenko and raul

Owen is what I would consider to be a opportunist. These r guys that get the goals when they r there for the taking, but lack the finesse, skills and creativity. In short, I classify a World Class striker as someone who is a match winner and r feared because at their best they r unstoppable and the moments of brilliance they conjure up win matches. Owen just doesn't fit this mode, like I mentioned previously, I consider Shevchenko and George Weah (in his prime) to be a prime example. Saviola will soon rise to these ranks.
Current World Class strikers would have to be Shevchenko, Raul, Vieri, Kluivert and there r others, but these are the guys I consider to be the cream of the crop.
