Are you serious? In 1994 Italy was already packing their bags to go home
against Nigeria until Baggio equalised in the last minute. Julio Salinas had a clear opportunity to score a 2:1 for Spain with a few minutes to go but failed and then Baggio scored on the counter-attack.

I know it may be painful if you believe so much in the tradition of Italian football, which has always been better than French, but the fact is, that in the last four years they are simply the best. Lastly they have beaten Scotland (which is a decent team) 5:0. When was the last time Italy has beaten any team by that score?

I am just wondering WHY a couple of people in here believe that Italy do not have much of a hope of Doing very well in, or even winning the WC. Player for player Italy matches if not betters every other team in the WC. Since Euro 2000, which I remind you we were only seconds away from winning, we have only lost 1 game in all friendlies and the WC qualification campaign, and that was to the favourites for the WC and we only narrowly lost. We have virtualy undoubtedely the best Defence in the World, in my opinion the two greatest goalkeepers in the world, probably the greatest attack in the world and a midfield which can match up to the majority of other teams (only Argentina and France are probably above us in that department). We also have one of the best coaches in the world and quite possibly an easy draw to at least the semi-finals.

So what are your reasons for thinking that Italy will not do well??
