This season has been awesome as of late...i never expected Inter to contend for the title...even with a new coach....realisticly i was hoping that we finished in a CL position....but Cuper has done brilliant....and come Lazio...if we haven't done the remarkable.....i will take comfort in the leaps and bounds in improvement from the days of Lippi and Tardelli.

We have Piacenza..and Lazio to top off the season.

Piacenza should be an easy game..but the Hubner led team..are playing some good football..with remarkable results against the big teams, and had Nedved not scored right near the end..Piacenza would have deserved the draw with Juve.

Then Lazio.....a side i dont think Inter have beatan at the Olimpico in a league match...since 1993 (i am not too sure...correct me if i am wrong here).... Yesterday they beat Verona...5-4. Although this suggests a strong attack. it also shows their weak defence.

IMO we have a lot to do to gain the championship...a 1 point lead at the top of the table...is not very assuring....IMO once again..i feel that we will win to Piacenze...but it will take something special to take that victory against Lazio........

Alvaro Recoba believes that his Inter side should be heavily praised no matter how the season ends.

The Nerazzurri are just one victory away from winning the Scudetto but the Uruguayan maintains that the season has been a success even if they slip up against Lazio this weekend.

"In a way we are winners already when you take into consideration how we did last season. It was a very difficult year for us and it was not easy to pick ourselves up for this campaign," he said.

"The new players brought desire with them and the remaining players regrouped so that we were all aiming for the same objective.

"At one stage last season our campaign had virtually ended because we had nothing else to play for."

The attacking talent also commented on how the side are feeling leading up to their most important match of the season.

"I don’t know if we are going to win the title this season but boss Hector Cuper has helped us to work in peace for most of the campaign," he added.

"I’m a bit anxious right now like the rest of the players. There is understandably tension in the air. But that was the case when we played Roma and Piacenza last week. We know that if we win then the title is ours."

the best i was expecting inter to achieve this season was, the most a CL spot or 3rd place.

they've then everyone proud, from the management, to the fans around the world, as well as Cuper and Moratti.

the darkest times for myself as an inter fan was the 6-0 drumming by milan, and to think that a year on, inter would be arms-length away from the scudetto certainly shows that this years inter is completely different from last years.

Christian Vieri and Ronaldo have urged Inter to forget past disasters when going into the Scudetto decider at the Stadio Olimpico.


It will be a curious coincidence for the two stars and both of them suffered their worst career moment in this very stadium.


“My biggest disappointment was when we lost the title on the last day of the 1998-99 season,” reveals ex-Lazio star Vieri. “Milan overtook us when it all seemed done and dusted.”


“But I don’t want to think about that now. I’d absolutely hate to lose again in the same way, so it is best to think positive.”


If Vieri lost a Scudetto on this turf then Ronaldo almost threw away his entire career. The second, more serious, knee injury was suffered just seven minutes into his comeback during the 1999 Coppa Italia Final against Lazio.


“I don’t know what I’ll feel stepping back into that Stadium,” admits the Brazilian. “I’ll tell you after the game, but it will certainly be an important moment for me. Let’s hope that all will go well this time.”


Both Inter stars have recovered from niggling injuries that could have ruled them out of this showdown. However, Vieri reminds the press that teamwork is the key to their success.


“It is true that first you need players who can make the difference, but Ronaldo, Vieri and Alvaro Recoba are not enough to win a match.”


“You need a solid defence, a good midfield and a great deal of work from the whole squad.”


Ronaldo agrees with this sentiment, but also adds, “when all three of us are playing together we link up very well.”


“I hope that after all this waiting in the wings I’ll have many opportunities to play beside them. There’s always the feeling that something might happen when we’re all out there.”


This trio has been employed late on in the season as Coach Hector Cuper throws his trademark caution aside.
