An ankle injury has ruled Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero out of Tuesday's Champions' League match against Bayer Leverkusen and probably the next game at Verona.

Lilian Thuram is also sidelined after straining a hamstring against Internazionale over the weekend. He joins Paolo Montero on the treatment table, while Edgar Davids and Mark Iuliano are suspended.

The absences are a huge blow to Juve coach Marcello Lippi, who will be hoping for a much-improved performance after the disappointing display against Deportivo La Coruna - when he was criticised for fielding a weakened team.
