Brazil's Eder from '82

I think Eder was one awesome player. He had a fierce left foot and took a thunderous free kick against Argentina in '82, rattling the crossbar and scored at long range against Scotland. I can't forget these moments. He was a delight to watch.

What happened to him after World cup '82 and why didn't he play in '86? Someone told me he was Roberto Carlos' mentor, is that true?
I'm looking for information on this brilliant player if anyone can help...

Eder today owns a gas station in Belo Horizonte.
I met with him in november 2000 here in Miami, when he was playing a game with Careca, branco, Elzo, Oscar, Paulo Vitor etc...


He din't go to the 86 world cup, because in a friendly with Peru, he was playing brilliantly and out of the blue he punched this peruvian player who was left knocked out on the pitch having some cunvulsions (like Leonardo to Tab Ramos, but instead of not being intentional, it was a big hammering with his left hand...quite funny if you ask me.....sort of Mike Tyson's punches which he would definlty be proud about!):D :D

Also he does some commentary for the local TV in Belo Horizonte!
