black hawk down is a farce. nevertheless, to believe it to be an actual event (like a history book) is moronic. i'm almost positive the movie begins with a statement "based on actual events" which means 1% of what transpired is fact.
another example of this is "the perfect storm". the movie is "based on true events" yes, the crew did die from the storm, but since there were no survivors, how could the plot be true?
this was another attempt by hollywood to uplift the morale of the people of the US (nothing wrong with that).

right and i am sure what the survivors claimed had occurred was exactly what happened in the movie. i was not even comparing the two movies but rather explaining that any movie that starts with "based on actual events" is 99% fiction. and yes, the event itself did take place, but glorifying the american soldiers is a farce. you know why? because those soldiers got their asses kicked by the somalis. the american soldiers retreated from somalia after that incident. but hollywood puts a spin on the whole thing and coincidentally it decides to release the movie when the american spirit is down. if you cannot understand that you are an idiot.

I watched the movie.... it's filled with dreadful acting, but I suppose the "action" scenes make up for that (and what's the matter with you? have a queeze stomach? There's nothing better then watching an open wound surger with blood squirting everywhere)... although most war movies have decent action scenes.

So in the end I give this movie a grade of "C-" ... meaning, if you can get a student discount to buy the ticket, then see it, but if not - in that case it's not worth it ;) Seriously, don't go to watch this movie for the "historical" aspect of it... watch it if you like seeing 2 hrs of people getting killed and blown up to pieces.
