I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what it is that Roma fans start chanting with the game announcer right after somebody has scored a goal. They say a whole heap of stuff and then chant the name of the goalscorer eg. BA TI STU TA against Verona. Similar to what the Munich fans do. I was just wondering if any1 knew cos I think it sounds really good.
P.S. In Italian and translated to English please if possible.
Thanx.

toldo please, allow me to assist you seeing as nobody else gave you an accurate answer to anthing.
firstly, roma gets 80,000 to every game played al'olimpico. they're the #1 team in rome, obviously, whereas lazio is the second team and usually get 60,000 spectators. still not bad.
secondly, the s.siro in milan holds 85,000. i don't know where someone got the idea that milan and inter get 50,000 and 40,000 respectively to each home game. milan regularly get 70,000 and inter can get relatively that amount also. just not as consistently as milan.
and lastly concerning your question, i'll just confirm what you already know, i tifosi yell the last name of the scorer. it's not only their trademark, juve, lazio do it as well, in fact mostly all the supporters do it. well every stadium i've been to anyway ...

according to http://www.worldfootballrankings.com/worldfootball2001/SoccerTop125Clubs.html
as roma gets an average crowd of 63,000
inter 54,000
ac milan 52,000
lazio 48,900
and juve only 38,000
i thought juve were the most supported team in italy ???
actually Inter was the most supported team in 1998-2000 we had larger crowd than Lazio in the 2000 mostly due to away games. we lost our positions with last year performance and still gan't gain it :(

Roma has 80.000 people on every game played on Olimpico ?? You must be kidding me.. Whoever said that is nothing but a fool...
Anyway, does a big crowd of supporters gained on Home games really make you the number one supported team in Italy ? It's proven that the most ITALIAN citizens support Juventus. Although a lot of them don't visit Delle Alpi when the games are played, but the most of Italians support Juve.
But the most watched derby ever is of course Lazio - Rioma.

The giallorosos are the most fanatics from Italy! It was proved!sslazio, you have to admit that the romanistas rule in Rome!
druman dont forget Viola fans! my italian friends're always saying Florence is crazy town and Napoli supporters as well Italy national always plays their vital games in Neapol
From what i read, Inter had the second highest average attendance, last season and they didn't do so well. Whereas Roma had the highest as Champions. (You would expect a higher crowd, when your team is winning)
DRUMan
01-21-2002, 09:02 PM
But Inter is winning and don't have the highest support.

01-22-2002, 01:49 AM
so if you have the most fans you are the best team??
since when
why are you arguing on such a topic
no i mean fans are more happier to watch their team win, than lose.
therefore higher average attendance in stadiums when team is leading..
Severus
01-22-2002, 02:40 PM
woah a little off there eh compared to the averages fanta illustrated.
however, regarding juve, its kinda hard filling up the delle alpi when the majority of your fans are every where else but in torino.
Like Manchester United, i think around 90% of Man Utd fans dont even live in Manchester

true fans support their local club - they aren't glory hunting losers like Manchester United fans from London of Juve fans from Rome.

JD thats bullshit!!!!!I live in Holland, but I'm a true Roma fan, and now you tell me why exactly I should support my 'local' club(which would be Vitesse)it doesn't matter where you're from , fans are always good!don't think you really understand the meaning of the word fan, now do you?!
ItalianBoy
01-28-2002, 05:48 PM
JD thats stupid! I always supported Juve since I was 6! Now I was supposed to support Roma? or Lazio? why? I like Juve!
Thats pretty stupid JD!

By your reasoning, everybody who was born in, say, Vitesse - as is the case with our glamorous friend TOTTIGirl - would be necessarily Vitesse supporters. They wouldn't be allowed to support, say, Ajax? If that family moved from Vitesse to Eindhoven, would they be able to support PSV? Or would that be "glory-hunting"? :D
But what if they were a Portuguese family living in Vitesse because of work, where everybody supported Porto since forever? Would they need to start supporting Vitesse, throw out all Porto jerseys and start memorizing the Vitesse players?
And what if you're born in Vitesse (I have NOTHING against Vitesse, I'm just using it as an example) and your parents die and you move to Amsterdam? Hey, now I support Ajax! But then your aunt dies and you need to go to your uncle's house in Den Haag. Throw out all Ajax jerseys! let's get those Den Haag scarfs!
Or do you mean people should support the team from the place they were BORN in? In that case, a football lover who's born in Vitesse (just sticking to the example, not trying to annoy TOTTIgirl :D ) but doesn't LIKE Vitesse (the club) would be in a strange situation: This person would love football but couldn't support ANY team in the world, because anything other than their own city's team would be "glory-hunting".
This "glory-hunting" term is another thing. I know people who actually like supporting underdogs. People who prefer to support Torino in Turin, and Atletico in Madrid - I mean, they don't like supporting punching bags, they just don't go with the majority. So if a person like that went to live in Germany, instead of supporting Borussia Dortmund they might support Borussia Moenchengladbach (I doubt this was spelled correctly). Would that be "glory-hunting"? I mean, they're choosing a team from another country! Or is it "glory-hunting" only when you support a "glorious" team? If so, where can this person find a ranking of which teams are most glorious?
Would the FIFA rankings do? Because in the last FIFA rankings, Brazil's Atletico are above Borussia Dortmund, for instance... So supporting Atletico would be more "glory-hunting" than supporting Borussia Dortmund? :silly:
Labeling people frequently leads to unfair judgment - don't you think? ;)
BUt what if you don't have a local team and the closest leagues to you are the mexican (don't like the style) and the MLS (Mobile Shit). You can't call me a glory hunter for supporting a team from a different country. We aint got shit here
it would mean the Chinese National Team have the largest fan base in the world :)

just in addition: true local club should use true local players and get true local support?
and football is a game a beautiful game, if you support Real or you like Real then you like and support Real's team philosophy and their style of play plus their spirit. And in this sense you should not ground yourself to your local team if you don't like and don't agree with their style, philosophy and etc.
BTW WHat kind of glory may supporter get from it's team? I thought it's the other way around
supporter gets satisfaction and happiness :)

It's a bit of harmless latin courtesy. Please don't feel offended. I meant "glamorous" as in "full of glamour". It's an innocent compliment. :)
And I stand corrected on Vitesse. My ignorance truly knows no bounds. All through the post I used "Vitesse" as an example for a city, and there IS no city called Vitesse. Homer Simpson would be proud. :D
Yes Homer would be proud ;)
