Reigning Primera Liga Champions Real Madrid are on track for a marvellous centenary year, have ace Raul Gonzalez Blanco declared. The Merengues ripped title contenders Deportivo apart in a 3-1 Primera Liga clash on
Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to kickstart the centenary celebrations.

According to Planetfootball.com, Raul said: "Against Deportivo we really enjoyed playing our football."
"It was ages since we really enjoyed ourselves on the pitch and I really had a lot of fun."
"The first half an hour saw some of the best football I have ever been involved in and all three of our goals were beauties."
"This season we are going to have fun, I hope, because there is a lot of quality in this side and the fans seem satisfied."
"The most important thing is that we had to win to go top of the table."
"That is the position we most like to be in."
"We are trying to stay on the same path as we did last year. We hit the top at about this time and didn't leave it for the rest of the season."
"We do have to be careful because the second half is yet to come and many other teams have shown that they are dangerous."

Raul believes the club can capture six trophies this year.

He added: "La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup."
"I would love to win all of these. At Real Madrid it is compulsory to win everything!"

Fernando Morientes, Zinedine Zidane and Raul got the goals on Saturday.

Porto midfielder Fredrik Soderstrom has questioned the physical stamina of Luis Figo after the Real Madrid star hobbled out of Tuesday night's game after 16 minutes following a collision between the two.

Real Madrid won the scrappy game thanks to a late goal from substitute Santiago Solari but Porto showed that they are capable of disturbing Vicente Del Bosque's expensively-assembled side.

And Soderstrom, who started the game marking Figo, said after the game that he was disappointed with the star-studded Real side.

“They were a bit disappointing and I think I expected a bit more from them.”

The Swede, who is hoping to make Tommy Soderberg and Lars Lagerback's squad for this summer's World Cup, added that Figo had not been able to cope with him.

“He couldn't handle a tackle with Swedish steel,” he said.

“We went for a tackle but their was nothing wrong with it. I didn't get booked or anything. I just think he got stuck in the grass,” he added.

Figo has sustained and ankle injury and is expected to be out of action for two weeks. He is now in danger of missing the Copa del Rey final against Deportivo La Coruna on March 6.

The Portuguese super star was replaced my Steve McManaman but Soderstrom managed to contain the English winger and was satisfied with his performance against the two super stars.

He told Aftonbladet: “I am very pleased with my performance. It is a good feeling to be able to prove that you have what it takes to play against the world stars of the game.”

Real Madrid are top of the group with nine points while the defeat leaves Porto rock-bottom with one point. Soderstrom, however, believes that Porto can beat the Spaniards at home and overtake Panathinaikos in second place to qualify for the quarter-finals.

He said: “Deco hit the post for us and Silva hit the bar which makes it very hard to take the defeat. But it we play like this in our home game against Real we will definitely win.”
