Barcelona star Rivaldo has hit back at former boss Johan Cruyff, after the Dutchman claimed Barca would better off without him.
Cruyff had stated that the Catalans may be better off selling the Brazilian, who he branded as being "problematic" last week. He reckons the current side depends too much on 'Rivo' and that the powers that be should be building a solid squad that can function just as well without him.
Another sore point was the extra day's holiday that Rivaldo took after the Christmas break. But the remarks have not gone down well with the player who said: "What he said is a bad reflection on him. I've always been professional and whatever I've done, it has always been with the coach's permission. I don't like the way he's using me to get at Rexach."
Rivaldo certainly appears to have patched things up with the Barcelona faithful. His inspirational display against Zaragoza on Sunday night merited a standing ovation from the
stands when he was substituted for Alfonso at the end of the game.
Meanwhile, rumours are still circulating that Inter Milan could make a swoop for the Brazilian star before the end of the season. With news that Inter chief Massimo Moratti could be planning a visit to the Nou Camp next week, Barca chairman Joan Gaspart has given strict instructions that only he is authorised to speak to anyone on any issue regarding Rivaldo.
