What is there to say? Most Brazilian clubs are poorly managed. Flamengo in particular is a money-drain, their officials make huge sums "disappear", their players are signed for wages the club cannot afford, prizes for winning tournaments exceed the clubs' actual budgets... Brazilian soccer is brilliant in many things, but management isn't one of them. We have five or six teams that can beat any of the biggest teams in the world, but our management is frankly disgraceful.

Which is, of course, the biggest reason so many players go abroad in exchange for peanuts: They long for professionalism and wages paid on schedule.

But remember: Petkovic is a player with a lot of skills but a slow player, so he fits better for a brasillian clubs then for the Serie A.

You have a player now playing for ROMA with the name LIMA. I have heard he is now popular in Italy, but in Brasil he played for many years just in small clubs. So it is dificult to say who fits in each league.
