Can Inter overcome Lazio in the second leg to win the cup. I think they can and I hope they can. They both have great teams. I'd give the the edge to Inter in net, Peruzzi is much better than Marchegiani. In defence I'd give the edge to Inter again. Cordoba, Blanc and Simic are all world class defenders and I think once they get more settled with each other, they'll be the best back line in Serie A. Lazio also has a good defence, but I think only Nesta ranks up there with the Inter 3.
In midfield the edge has to go to Lazio. Such a great midfield with unbelievable depth. Veron is amazing and that is what Inter lack. Seedorf seems to play the playmaker role for Inter, but he's no playmaker.
In offence I'd have to go with Inter again. More depth and if not injuries, they'd be scoring left and right.
Overall I'd go with lazio for the reason that they play so much better as a TEAM. This is what Inter lacks. So many stars but they haven't all been playing together for very long, so they need to get some cohesion.
I think Inter can do it in the second leg. Any thoughts?
I completely agree with you. If Inter could play as a team, they would be so much better. They would have been serious contenders for the Serie A title.
Now, about the Coppa Italia, I'm not sure how Inter will do. They could be down in the dumps over Ronaldo, or that could be the reason they play even harder and win the cup. Who knows? I just hope they can do it.

Well, see the problem gambine, I semi-agree with your theory, however you are evaluating both teams according to indiviual player skills, whats more important is team work and how all players work as a group to achieve the vitory.. Inter's defence is great (in terms of stars) but then how come they let in lots of goals and they concede goals in the last minutes of the game ?? Lazio's forwards are not so good but then how come they do score more goals... ?? Its team work more than indiviual skills, you think Juventus has more stars than Lazio, Inter, Milan ?? No, lots of good players but not stars, but they know hot to work as a one strong team and thats why they end up the best team in the world ;)... Which is more effective than individual skills...
All I said above is very general to those teams and maybe not apply to the 2nd leg because finals are always something different... So I hope inter wins but its going to be a hard task... Lets see..

You're right Juve Fan, but I did point out that Lazio was more of a team than Inter at the end of my post.
Inter's main problem is that they buy too many players. When you consider their defence, Cordoba came mid season, Blanc and Panucci at the start of the season, and Simic midway through last season. They haven't been playing together long, so they don't have that understanding that the Juve defence has.
I do understand the team concept, I just wanted to a position for position analysis.
Juve doesn't have a lot of stars, but you have more than we do in Milan. We only have Sheva, Boban and Maldini. Our midfield is crap crap crap and can't do without Boban. Our players do play well as a team though, this is the main reason we won the scudetto last season. :) It'll also be one of the main reason you win it this season :)
