I used to feel sorry for france because their national league is so shite and because their national team were such nearly men with such a great team in the 80's, but you have changed my opinion a little, mon amie. You are no better then any other arrogant sap, that thinks that they are the best. I argued with (I think Italian boy) somebody about the French team being the best team in the world (because they are number 1 ranked and world champs). But come July 2002 I cant see that being the case. I think that Argentina have a far superior side. France have pretty much the same team they had in 98' and they are playing AWAY FROM HOME. I dont think that they would beat the Argentines if they meet them!!!
By the way nobody is jealous of your team... Dugarry is the only one jealous at the mo, cause he will be watching Frances matches from the stands!!!! :D

but France also win euro2000 and confederation cup whcich is not homeground

and italy never beat france for more than 15 years.....

I'll risk being assaulted by the French representation on WSB and say it: France is not the best team in the world. It's ONE of the best, not the best. Believe me, as I'm used to seeing my team among the very best: winning a tournament or two doesn't make you the best. Being champion doesn't make you necessarily the best either - everybody knows that the best team in WC '74 was Holland "The Clockwork Orange", yet Germany won.

Let me add that beating a superior team only ADDS to the glory of the champions: after all, you beat the best! But that doesn't make you the "best", just the winner. Like Italy in WC '82, Brazil was a star-studded squadron, yet we were defeated - Italy deserves all the credit, and we bow to the rightful winners, but Brazil was the best team then; more credit to the champions. Hungary astounded the world for two or three consecutive YEARS in the '50s, and were without discussion the most powerful NT of the time - but they lost the 1954 WC to Germany, and in '58 they were over the hill. So they weren't the best? Yes they were, but they were defeated in the most important match, that's how soccer is.

In case someone wants to attack me for being partial: France was superior to Brazil in WC '98, they were more organized. Hey, even Holland was a better team IMO - but we beat them in the semifinals, when it really counted. But in the end, France was the best. Did the home field help? Yes, and that's not shameful. Did some French players retire from Les Bleus? Yes, but new and qualified ones have surfaced. Is France still the best? Not in my opinion, which anyone can disagree with. :)

My point: France is ONE OF THE BEST. Among the best. They're on the same (very high) level as Argentina and Italy, with Brazil a little behind due to our own shoddy disorganization (but trust me, we can catch up in time for the WC). The rest comes after this select club. British fans will wail, Portuguese fans will boo, the Spanish will throw rocks, but IMHO that's basically it. Among this very select group, there's a HUGE amont of talent in every team, and anyone can win, depending on who's having a better day.

And I hope that, when it really counts, Brazil wins. ;)

why would we be jealous of french futbol when you can't even keep your own players in your own domestic leagues. you have to rely on other nations to develop your players into champions for you ;)

nah, just kiddin'. i'm not jealous of french futbol in the least. i admire france and their national club, in fact, when italy gets eliminated, its always the french i root for because of certain players i admire like trezeguet, pires, henry, candela oh and yeah, even that french judas scum zizou's alright too.
