my vote nonetheless goes to raul. his 35 goals last season led real madrid to the primera title and to the semis of the ECL where they were knocked off by the eventual champs bayern munich.

i think that a list of the top 50 players that includes Pires of Arsenal and without Roy Keane is a joke. Apparantly 5 players of United got nominated. every manager in te world obviously knows something that naieve old Alex Fergeson doesnt, by leaving the captain out!!! i will vote for bechkam, only because he is the best out of the so called "best" players list, bearing in mind that if a player isnt flash , they dont have a chance! What has Figo done for Madrid and Portugal that Keane hasnt doen for Ireland and United? Keane won the EPL and helped his team get 2 draws in Portugal against a supposed better Portugal team with a supposed better player, Figo on their team!!!!! Figo has done no more than Keane in the last year, unless he has amazed us all with his skill, but not actually won anything, or is winning not important? I know that its all a matter of opinions, but nobodycan argue with what he has done compared to Figo and especially Beckham, their world cup records show a ,ajor differance. English fans go on about how crap Ireland are and our players etc. yet when beckham helps them qualify for the tournament hes a god and praised around europe. When Keane does it for a far less skillful and talented Irish team, its more , Well hes not very exciting is he??? Im a united fan , I know more than most of you who see bits and bobs of him. Very few United fans would argue with me, most agree that he is and has been worth 2 players a game in most of the games he has played in. Who knows the players of a team better then those that love the club. I wouldnt argue with anybody about players in a club I dont really follow, especially if they watch them week in week out. Beckham it seems gets the praise , keane does the work, keane went down the wrong road, if hed of married a famous wife , he would of probobley had a better chance at being recognised and Awknowledged for his talents... I think that he is great and dont just love him because hes Irish, but its because he really doesnt give a Crap what people think of him. he will just keep on going out and proving you all wrong(that dont think much of him). He just lets his work on the park do the trick. He doesnt need me defending him , but when I see all this Beckham Figo crap (again nothing to do with It boy) it just saddens me to see that a man so quite off the pitch and the most influential on the pitch should get kicked aside for the celebrity stars of football, Im just shocked that they didnt manage to find a spot in the top 50 for Ronaldo!!!!

Rivaldo should definately be there. Even Roberto Carlos, Del Piero, Verona - they were all deserving of recognition.

Of course, you won't be surprised to hear from me that I think Figo deserves to be recognized as best and that opinion happens to coincide with what I'd like to see as well.

Does anyone know what the criteria is for voting? It seems to me that midfielders are more likely to orchestrate the game from that position. For my money, Sevchenko's skills are pretty well on par with Figo's, but as a striker his role is to use those skills to finish. Obviously there's more glory in scoring, but midfielders are bound to contribute more to the overall result. For example, Raul scores a lot, but how many of those were placed at his feet by Figo?

I don't know who to choose: IMHO, the absolute finest players in the world today are Bayern Munich's Kahn and Man Utd's Veron. Who's better? I don't know.

I'm a huge fan of both; Kahn is the best goalie I've seen in over a decade, superior to Schmeichel and to Preud'homme, who were the best in the last couple of World Cups.
Veron is one-of-a-kind in today's soccer; Zidane isn't even half the player Veron is.

FIFA's main page says it's down to the three. Totti is only 25 now I believe, so he's got time to improve. However, he will have lots of competition since their are so many up and coming quality players

Well personally I think he deserves it a lot cuz he is a great player, and his a true leader! Roma without him is not much in the offence department. Figo is good at what he does, and for that I mean it as passing the bal to Raul etc. Beckham is great too with free kicks etc, still to me Totti should win, if not this year, next year for sure.

The first one neted the second one vs Romania in Ljubljana. As I know you are following the football every day and you couldn't miss that one. An amaising strike.

And the second one scored the one in Bucarest and that one took us to the WC Finals. I think he is the only European striker, scored only once in 53 matches. Bat that only one was the greatest.

i think that he is doing a great job. it seems he is just getting better and better plus i like the team that he plays for, england. i wish england good luck and i hope they at least make it to the top 10 when the world cup is over. at first i thought that a lot of people were going to say figo but i quess not. go england.
