ZE ELIAS (OLYMPIAKOS), FERUGGEM (AEK)ARE GIFTED PLAYERS- I HEARD THAT FERUGGEM WAS BEING EYED FOR THE MEN'S NT- BUT NOTHING.
THERE IS ALSO GIOVANNI (OLYMPIAKOS)- BUT HE HAS BEEN PLAYING CRAP, AND THE YOUNGSTER MARICKA (AEK)
THESE PLAYERS ARE NOT NOBODIES- THEY ARE VERY USEFUL, EVEN ON THE BENCH- ESPECIALLY WITH THE CRISIS OF THE BRAZILIAN NT. IS IT BECAUSE THE GREEK CHAMPIONSHIP IS NOT VERY POPULAR?

I am sory to say to you but nobody sees or even hears about greek football here in Brazil. I mean, many people know who are the popular teams like Olimpiakos and AEK or Panatinaikos, but about the championship is very dificult to have any information.
So I do not beleave any of this players will be selected. Giovanni used to have a good name here but many people think he is too slow. Ze Elias has already play some times for Brasil but as he moved from Italy to Greece many people said, he was not good enough for Serie A. And Ferrugem, I am sory but he played very little here (Palmeiras) and nobody remembers him
But think also that is dificult to be the Brasilian national coach, because you have players all around the world and it is dificult to get information. And I think we still have better players, even for the bench, then this 3 that are playing in greece.

you are right that there are better players out there... there are about 6-7 brazilians playing in greece- the ones i mentioned are just the ones that are more well known.
giovanni has been in very bad form, and there are rumors that he will be sold to a team in brazil. the team is unhappy with him because he is not putting up good effort (maybe he is also unhappy)
i stand by my opinion about the worth of ze elias- he is young (24) and very effective.
i realize that the greek league is not on par with serie A and la liga, but the quality is not that bad. all foreigners on our top teams (xept for the brazilians) are active NT players. the conceptions that a player moved to greece because he could not cut it in a better league is not altogether true.
you follow brazilian football... do you think that gamarra- who now plays for my team- could no longer cut it in the brazilian championship? i think he could- and i think he could play in any top european championship successfully.
just my thoughts...
btw, thanks for responding... this topic was gathering cobwebs :(

I believe that players that play in top teams in greece could play in any part of the world. But is just a question os media/TV you know........If nobody sees greece league in Brazil it became dificult for the NT coach to see this players. That is just possible if any team from greece does a good figure in Chapions League (but Panatinaikos lost the last game 3x0 in Madri) or UEFA cup......
OH is Gamarra playing in greece?? Nice to know. He is absolutely a top defender. He had also some injuries and also became too expensive for brazilian clubs..........

I like Ze Elias' style and think he's as good as most of the other defensive mids who have been playing for us. I believe he should have more chances - I mean, if we've tried Doriva, why not Ze? But the truth is, the Greek league doesn't get that much attention, and there are many other candidates for Brazil's team. It's not fair, but there it is.
And I've often stated right here on WSB that IMHO Gamarra is one of the four best defenders in the world, in the exact same level as Nesta, Thuram, and Tudor. He's superb.
