...who believes that Russia is still a communist country. Now, I wouldn't care so much if he didn't keep bringing it up every day. It's a business class, and he keeps saying how in America you get to choose what you want to do, how you want to do it, etc etc. But in Russia, the government chooses....they choose who goes to school, who works in what field, and so on. Now, for the first 2 weeks I didn't say anything. Today, after he got the whole class to agree that in Russia you have no freedom, I figured I'd let him know, that communism in Russia died over 19 years ago....

The reply I got from him left me dumbfounded, as he grilled me for like a minute, trying to pound into my head what he believes is right (Russia still being communist) for like a minute. It got to the point where some classmates started to ask me why I doubted him .

I've already printed out CNN articles, Russia's wikipedia page, and my friend is giving me his World Politics textbook from his university, in which the last 3 chapters are devoted to the fall of communism in Russia, and I will present all of this to him next time I go to that class (a week from today). If he disagrees with me still, I don't know how I'll stand to listen to his bullshit anymore.

dude that's nothing... i had this biology professor and he always attacked Muslims and what not... e.g. circumsion.... he'd say something like ' muslims perform circumision on males which is apsolutely ridiculous because you shouldn't chop something off that already there'' and so i put my hand up and said ''' why do you cut your hair?? don't chop it off next time... why do you cut your nails???''''

and then he looked at me and i said ' yeah what... you didn't know i was a Muslim ehh??'''
and then he tried to worm his way out of it and i just told him ''' hey sir at least i know that my chances of catching diseases are 50% less than yours are... you best be careful" hahahaha i had fun that day

Your professor goes on about Russia not having the freedoms of the US, yet he drills you just because you gave your own informed and objective opinion. Not only does he seem like a tool, he sounds like the ultimate hypocrite. Posers like this wouldn't be able to last 5 minutes in an objective, respectful and fair debate.

The reaction of your classmates -- asking why you doubted him -- is one of the reasons why the world's in the state it's in. So many have forgotten the importance of engaging in intelligent debates, relying on logic and empirical evidence, and questioning and challenging theories and beliefs that make no sense or that are simply untrue.

The harsh reality is that the US isn't as free as so many claim it is; it's run by Zionists.

Your professor does not respect the right to academic and intellectual freedom. Be careful though if you try to take him on by yourself. You could buy your time, get the grades, pass the class and then show him that he's wrong.

Fener, I decided to hold back on proving him wrong, well, at least bringing in all of those articles and the textbook.

Zero, yes, it is quite sad. You are right on in your description of this guy. I have no idea how he got his teaching position, because he is definetly not qualified. He asks the stupidest rhetorical questions, and takes 10 minutes to explain something that can easily be explained in 20 seconds. He treats everyone in the class like we're some idiots, and he's the bigshot. Right now, we're doing some fake "Stock Market" game where we have to buy and sell fake stocks. He's actualy making a profile for his dog, to see which one of us will beat his dog......

On Thursday he started on his speil about Russia again, and this time I decided to stay quiet, and to my surprise, another student said "No, Russia isn't communist anymore...." He looked at her, smiled, ignored what she said, and continued talking more bullshit.

Ill also keep quiet for the remaider of the class like you suggested. I ran the idea of proving him wrong by a few friends, and the general response I got (After they laughed at his stupidity) was that I should just go with it. The funniest response I got was from one of my good friends, who said.....

"Man, if you get a quiz, and there's a question that asks if Russia is communist, you best believe you're going to put YES!" That made me laugh, but, the sad thing is, I'll have to do that haha.

The USA claims to be free and democratic, but in reality it is no better than Russia.

Basically you do as the US government wants you to do or they threaten you with violence and try to crush you.

The USA just hides it well and "appears" to be free. :llama:

Does your prof. actually know what communism is? Tell me when was Russia a communist society. Like Blair saying was/is Labour or we have proof Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Well this is the most wonderfool day in your miserable lives. You have the honour of reading text written by the brainiest/most beautifool/wonderfool, hell perfect person, how do I know I'm infallible- bet you guessed.
Communism is not the biggest [well behind the biggest weapon] bully saying equality for all. We just need more money luxuries [homes/jewels/gold/food/jets ect] to keep countrys' assets in good order family & friends aiding this problem but you'll all get whats left evenly divided[after divider gets his]
Communism has never been seen on earth- it's Utopia sadly I'll never see -drop dead if actually occurred. Don't even mention China/N. Korea heh weren't N. Korea great in WC pity don't see more of them[football team].
Tell your prof. to actually have some knowledge of the subject before he/she TEACHES IT. Spreading ignorance is not a requirement for Euro Uni forgetting your way is best heh can't FORGET I'm INFALLiBLE lets be informal just call me O Grate ONe

I don't know which zionists (whilst I'm not a fan) are running the U.S.... if they ever did, they're forgotten, people... these days it's the companies that donate to politicians who run the country, and thus, not really politicians at all...

As for Russia or the U.S. being 'free,' I love the nonsense of it all... I honestly know nothing about the way Russia operates; I've heard good stuff and (mostly) bad stuff too.

As for the U.S.... the problems here are bottomless...we have governments, "left" or "right"-wing, taking donations from companies in exchange for... what? I mean, honestly, are we idiots? Legislation... This is government-sanctioned corruption... And on top of it, some idiots, again on both "sides" give huge tax cuts to huge corporations, along with all types of other aid and kick-backs (let's not forget, if you're big enough and you go bankrupt... no worries! They've got your back! Small to mid-sized? Sorry!) helping these big companies further monopolize the market, and ironically disabling small and mid-sized businesses from doing anything faced against the monopolies being propped up by economically blind numb-skulls in the white house (who, most of them, used to, continue to, and will into the deep recesses of their lives, profit off of what they're doing)... The complete opposite of a "free market"...

The companies that have enough money can pretty much buy the government...! And nobody on the left or right gives a damn... they're talking about abortion, gun rights, and ceaseless wars abroad...

Your professor must have been seriously affected by the cold war. I guess he's just re-living the old days when he was young, just like all veterans.

HAHA Hair is a little different than foreskin. Though male Circumsion for religious purposes maybe fine but female isn't because the female genetalia doesn't have a foreskin! As far as cutting the changes of getting a VD, making sure your partner is clean, wearing condoms is better than reling on being circumcised.

Either way that was a pretty ignorant comment

Professors tend to believe that they are the one's doing the preaching/teaching in their class. Also if you have a different view you better be able to back it up!

I guess he thinks that the Russian mafia = communism...what a dumb sh!t, But I guess when Putin walks into a few mega oil companies and says "the State own you now...f*ck off!", that could be construed as communism.

Personally I think there might be a very fine line b/w communism and mafia anyhow.
