And I think it is obligatory to change your name if you want to make it official... Remember Jabbar, Ali, Tyson... I don't know koran that much, so I really shouldn't blabla here, but I know you can tell if a person is muslim by his/her name, so...

About Westerners becoming buddhists, I'm kinda sceptical about that. I mean, it's surely hard for us to truly get it what it's all about. Eastern mentality is sth very special.

No its not at all obligatory to change your name.. I think they only change their names to make it clear for the people that they have changed to Islam. Anyways Bilal is both an Arab/Muslim name.. BTW there is nothing in Koran that says you have to change your name once you convert..

Apparently, it was in a Danish newspaper, but I overlooked it in some other forum, where two different posters confirmed it.

And I didn't think koran says you should change your name... I know quite a few things about koran, but I never took the time to read it... I must compensate on this...

Yeah I heard that too.. I think he has some personal problems and he likes France more.. Anyways I also heard Real will not let him go easily especially after he proved himself in the last few months.. I even heard he likes it at Real and might consider staying.. 1st)Belal is the name of the first african converted into Islam ,he was the mo'zen of pray(a man who calls the muslims for prayers)
2)it is not obligatory to change ur name after Islam (unless it was something bad like some anciant arabs used to call them self war(harb) or stuff like that,but most ppl change it to feel the start of the new life
