Brann defender Azar Karadas has confirmed that Premiership strugglers West Ham have invited him on trial with a view to making a £1.2 million bid. "I knew that a request like this would come and it is extremely interesting," he said.

His agent Stig Lillejord also confirmed that the Hammers are serious about signing the 20-year-old defender, who they have seen in action on a number of occasions.

"Azar has an invitation from the Hammers and the best time for him to go is between November 5-10," he said.

Lillejord is waiting to hear back from West Ham as to whether the dates are agreeable. "We're waiting for a decision," he said.

Karadas has been used as both a defender and a striker this term and is not a regular in the Brann team. He is keen to go and cash-strapped Brann would be happy to receive a transfer fee.

"We have spoken to West Ham. We want Karadas to leave for London, but at the moment he is in the military as well and we have to co-ordinate it with that," said sports director Arne Moeller.

Karadas has already been on trial at Leeds United, Liverpool and Udinese, but is yet to receive a contract offer. He would cost West Ham an initial £780,000, rising to £1.2 million based on appearances
