Despite having recently signed a new contract at Norwegian Tippeliga club Lyn, former AIK coach Stuart Baxter looks set for a move back to Sweden.

The Scotsman admitted he is in negotiations with a number of parties with speculation rife that he is about to take over at Helsingborg.

"I am in negotiations with some clubs, but I won't say which," said Baxter, who guided AIK to the Champions' League in 1999.

He has a clause in his Lyn contract allowing him to speak to clubs interested in his services and reports in Swedish newspaper Expressen suggest he is being lined up to replace current Helsingborg boss Nanne Bergstrand.

Baxter is also thought to be keen to return to Sweden for the sake of his Swedish wife.

Lyn boss Stuart Baxter has been linked with a return to the Allsvenskan in Sweden at Helsingborg after confirming he has spoken to several clubs.
Baxter left AIK one year ago to take over the reins at Norwegian Tippeliga newcomers Lyn. The Scot made it clear that his aim for the season was to avoid relegation, which he managed last weekend.

He has two years left on his contract but he is understood to have a clause in his contract at the Oslo club that would give him the chance to leave in November, and his future has been the subject of much speculation.

Helsingborg are the latest club to be rumoured as his next destination. The coach still has a house close to the town and his family have been settled there for some time.

Baxter told Swedish newspaper Expressen: "I have spoken to several clubs but I will not disclose which ones."

Several Helsingborg players last week made their dissatisfaction with their season and their coach public in a newspaper survey and rumours have been rife at Olympia that his days at the club could be coming to an end.

However chairman Claes Johansson was keen to play down any imminent news. He said: "After the season we will make an evaluation of what has gone on. Until that time Nanne Bergsrtrand has our full support."
