This is my pick of the 3 MOST MEMORABLE goals in W.C. history. Maybe there is nothing to discuss here but I think the most memorable goals have to be=
1. 1986 Maradonna's against England. Need I say any more?
2. 1970 I think was it Zinho for Brazil in the final. Great build up Pele to the scorer.
3. 1986 Maradonna's through pass to Burrachaga or the winning goal in the final.. I think the through ball by Maradonna (4 Germans surrounding him) makes it one of the most memorable in history.....
I know that alot of people have their own preferance, I thinl that Argentina's goals are memorable not only for the quality but for the significance in the matches. England 2-1 and Germany 3-2.
Roberto Baggios against Yugoslavia in the 1990 world cup was another special as was Bergkamps in 1998 against Argentina. I particularly loved Maradonnas goal in the 1986 semi final against Belgium and against Nigeria in 1994.

For me, it's Romario's "ballet" kick against Holland in the 1994 World Cup. Aldair passes long to Bebeto who advances, crosses perfectly to Romario and "Shorty" catches it in mid-air, with a beautiful leap, plummeting the ball into the net. What a beautiful touch on the ball! Romario is priceless. The best in the world today, without a doubt.
I know Maradonas goal against England will get many vote but I vote for this one on account of the perfection of Roamrio's touch. An artist's touch! ;)

It was Jairzinho, "The hurricane". Jairzinho was the only worldcup-winning player to score goals in EVERY game his team played in the Cup.

thanks for clearing that up . I love that goal .Am i right in saying that that was the match which pele let the ball roll past the keeper , ran around the keeper and then narrowly missed what would of (debatably) been the best goal ever???

No, that wasn't in the final; I don't have the facts here with me so I'm saying this from memory, but I think it was in the semifinal against Uruguay. Pure magic, no doubt about it.

You are a walking Encyclopedia of football. A few years ago I might of been sure of that but I have sort of lost touch of WC history.....
Still it would of been amazing if it had went in. Perhaps that could be a post " MOST AMAZING MISSES" . Even though technically it shouldnt of been a chance at all!!!!
Or maybe the "MOST AMAZING GOALS NEVER SCORED".

A Great world cup goal for Me would Be 1990..Italy Vs Uruguay.....Schilachhi Fired A great shot over the keeper from outside the box...it was a great play....one player collected the ball from a goal keeper clearence..then baggio passed the ball through the defenders legs......then schilachhi sent the ball home...........Italy went on to beat uruguay 2-0....
Another good goal...but was not scored in World Cup. Cl fina ..Inter Vs Real Madrid....Mazzolla Scored from a bicycle Kick.....Inter went on winning the CL........

Yugoslavia - Spain: 2:1! 1990 Stojkovic free kick which equalized during the injury time. We beat SPain only to meet the mighty Argentinians in the Quarterfinals we lost on penalties that was very exciting match where we dominated but lost on penalties!

I know there are alot of members here who wouldnt remember the world cup of 1982.
Now i am not a mad keen fan of brazil at all but in this world cup they were dubbed to have had the best team never to win the world cup.
One effort i can remember was a simple tap in for Zico against Argentina.
But to me it wasnt the tap in i remember, it was the 45 yard thunderbolt of a shot take by Eder that rattled the underside of the crossbar and bounced about a foot in front of the goal before zico tapped it in, with the goalie still sprawled on the ground trying to save the initial shot from Eder.
The goal is nothing special, i wouldve scored that, but the venom in the original free kick that led to the goal will live with me forever.

1986 Manuel Negrete Mexico V Bulgaria.Perfect example of a bicycle kick.
Dario Rodriguez Uruguay V Denmark Korea 2002.Ball never touched the floor

The amazing goal that Romário scored against Sweden in 94 .When Jorginho crossed to him that headkicked between two giant swedish defensers, qualifying the brazilian team to the final after 24 years in hope...It´s unbelieveable to see the shorty flying...For me brazilian so... Romário is killer:star:
