Romania really really stunk it up against Italy, while its true that Italy are a very VERY good team, a Romanian loss I could accept without too much worry, but a Romanian loss where we played unattractive bad soccer that worries me to the point that I'm quite doubtfull about our qualification for the WC. While its true I have not agreed with many of the decisions of the new Coach (playing old Beledidici against Italy?) I think it's much worse than that. I'll hope for a quick turnaround but I don't think its realistic, what do you think?

In short I dont think Romania have the self belief or the talent to replace all the players that left recently, it takes a long time to rebuild and they seem to have hit an all time low, one cant blame the coach too much, especially when Petrescu is one of the older veteran stars out there and he himself is playing like crap and providing no leadership. I,m sorry to say this but you might have to wait 6 years before seeing your team in the world cup again, hope they prove me wrong.

I think we have the talents to replace the old ones.
Just watch the freindly vs. Yugoslavia and se it yourself.
Players like Dennis Serban, Catalin Munteanu, Marius Niculaie, Codrea, Dancia, Zicu, Mara, Neaga etc. can do even a better team than the one that was.
But the problem is not that. The problem is with the players mentality and their work-rate (except some - C. Munteanu, Dennis and Niculaie).

Hello David nice to meet you. So I just checked your profile, you live in lovely Constanta, I have a friend who lived there and visits quite often, he tells me that the women from Constanta are, for the most part, very beautiful, the most beautiful in Romania. I know you sent me a private message, because the site sent me varification to my old e-mail address. Unfortunetely I can't get to it because my old handle (Romire) was kind of lost when this site crashed a couple months ago, so I had to create another one (romire74). So you can either send me the message again to romire74 or you can just e-mail me at romire74@hotmail.com
I'm a little more hopeful now than I was just after the Italy game when I originally posted. There is a lot of new talent surfacing at the moment. While I didn't get a chance to see it I read that our young lads did very well against Iugoslavia. It isn't going to be easy though, Hungary is playing some fine soccer, and I was extremely impressived with Estonia in their game against Italy. We could stand to lose to Italy again but then we'd have to consistently win the majority of the rest of the games.
You probably know this living in Romania but just in case you don't, Romania is playing right now in some kind of tourny in Portugal (I don't know what the results have been though, hard to get info like that up here in Canada.) and they are using a very young squad (for the most part, a couple of veterins), the majority of which are domestic players:
Romanian squad:
Goalkeepers: Ionut Irimia (Petrolul Ploiesti), Florin Prunea
(Dinamo Bucharest);
Defenders: Florentin Dumitru (Steaua Bucharest), Flavius
Stoica (Universitatea Craiova), Adrian Iencsi (Rapid Bucharest),
Daniel Prodan (Rocar Bucharest), Vali Nastase (Dinamo
Bucharest), Mirel Radoi (Steaua Bucharest), Cristian Dancia
(Arges Pitesti);
Midfielders: Florin Soava (Universitatea Craiova), Robert
Ghioane (Rapid Bucharest), Erik Lincar (Steaua Bucharest),
Bogdan Mara (Arges Pitesti), Marius Maldarasanu (Rapid
Bucharest), Iulian Tames (Dinamo Bucharest), Cristian Ciobotariu
(Sportul Studentesc Bucharest);
Forwards: Marius Niculae (Dinamo Bucharest), Cosmin Bacauan
(Universitatea Craiova), Adrian Mihalcea (Dinamo Bucharest).
Niculai and Bacauan are ones to watch thats for sure. Anyways I'm looking forward to hearing from you (hopefuly if everything works out)
Le revedere pentru acum.

It's Georgia, not Estonia.
And not so sure about Barcauan, that he'll develop in a quality player, but pretty sure about Niculaie, Dennis Serban, Alin Stoica and Catalin Munteanu.
And yes, the girls are great here.
Romania won the final vs. Portugal:
Portugal B - Romania B = 0-1. Goal: Marius Niculae.
Be sure to check your PM.

Georgia? Estonia? Yes they sound so similar don't they!! I don't know where I got Estonia from. Its all down hill from 20, you memory is the first to go!!
I know this must be very annoying and frustrating for you, but once again I didn't get your private message. A couple of months ago the system crashed and the Private Messages went with it, I left a message a couple days ago asking about P.M. to see whether its still down or whether I was doing something wrong, but no one has responded to me yet. So we could waite for a response or you could e-mail me at romire74@hotmail.com
Anyway so Romania's young lads are playing Croatia's young lads on the 30th. I would think we'd have the edge with talent and confidence. Won't get to see it up here (all we get is Euro Cup, World Cup and anytime Romania plays Italy (because of the Italian station.) So if you get a chance to see it, let me know how we did.
Le revedere.
