If there are any Ucrainians here (I think one of them should be Zek), I would like to express my wish that Ucraine finally reaches the World/Euro championship. Twice in the row they failed in additional qualifications (against Croatia and us, Slovenia) and now I would really love to see them in Japan, because they have very good team. Plus, this would leave current crappy German team at home.
Actually I am not an ukrainian (respect Ukraine a lot and have some friends from there) I am from Azerbaijan simply I do like Dynamo Kiev and Lobanovski, i think Ukr. football was the best in USSR.
Dynamo_Milan he is from Kiev but I haven't seen him around for a while.
I join you OAnimal wishing Lobanovsky squad to beat Germans. They have a good team but something was missing all the time. Go Ukraine !!!

Shevchenko will miss out the first leg, coz of a broken nose, and what is Ukraine without Sheva ??
Im not sure how good the german team is today, but i think they will make to WC 2002.....a WC without Germany isnt a WC....right ?
Too bad the Dutch team didnt make it, coz i think they play the most attractive soccer in Europe or maybe in the world...
Dont forget Ukraine has one of the best coaches in the world - Valeriy Lobanovsky!!!
by the way Sheva will play both games but he will play them in the special mask. and not only Sheva is good in ukrainian team the team is balanced and rebrov-sheva due is very good.
plus German team is a total disaster drew with Finland at home. hehe Germany should call this year "mission impossible" they did wonders nobody could ever expect it from them

Reborv, Sheva, Malaschenko. They are all good but it seems that the team isn't that balanced. Especially in midfield.
I sympathize with Ukraine also.
but comparing to germany they are somehow more balanced
midfield is a problems for ukrainians

I'll be supporting Ukraine against Germany. The Germans have nothing but tradition going for them, these days. And I'd like to see Schevchenko in the WC, as I think he's one of the finest footballers of our day.
Go Ukraine!
I would say if there is a team which is an ancestor of former USSR then its Ukraine not Russia. Ukrainians were always making half of the squad. They always play a good game and I like them personally because of Lobanovsky and plus good friends there.
I am sure Ukraine can be WC sensational team if they pass Germany.
Go Ukraine! Go lobanovsky!!!
Go Sheva and Rebrov!!!

i dont think anyone overestimates russia but from my experience people really overestimate ukraine they are not that good trust me the only reason people think ukraine is so good is cause of shevchenko but if you really think about it thats all they really have. i seen them play last month aginst poland even though they tried hard they just did not have enough to get it done, shevchenko scored a goal which shouldnt of counted and then they had to rely on the belarus result that does not sound like a team that wants to qualify let alone do anything in the world cup.
ok Gucio actually I think Ukraine is first of all Lobanovsky and then Sheva and the co. Anyway we will see soon with germany
but Russia tend to be overestimated always;)

this is a real tough one especially if your a pole since we dislike both the germans and the ukes, but at least the ukrainians are slavs. i really would love to see germany make it and then get there asses whipped in front of everybody especially by poland which would be so beautifull. :D
hehe:D
Polish team seems to be good, for the first time since 80's. I remember you had some troubles beating even my lovely Azerbaijan team in mid 90's ;)
and again we come to this national tension thing actually for me I have nothing against germans (but have a polish friend and she told me once why poles dont like germans still WWII thing) I like ukrainians and dont like at all russians eventhough they are both slavs and etc. but still....
by the way Wisla was suprisingly good against Inter!
and the funny story once I met polish president in Azerbaijan couple of years ago and even talked to him couple of phrases and chatted for 10-15 minutes with his wife, she is a nice person seemed to me. and yeah i also remember those security guys with them they were quite polite but huge way too big. I am not a small guy but those one were huge:D
Anyway I am for Ukraine and Lobanovsky rules! sorry for this
can imagine poles whipping german asses:D Pope smiling in Vatikan, germans crying, poland celebrating! but they got whipped by brits and swedish coach not whipped it was something even worse, my german friends were drinking for 3 days then:evil:

As has been said before in this thread, the problem for the Ukraine is their weak midfield, they have a good defence and a superb attack, the defensive players are all the current or ex-Dinamo players. Examples are Holovko and Luznhy. We all know their attack so no need to mention that anymore.
After the 5-1 against England people criticised the German NT alot. But I don't believe England is so strong and that Germany is that weak. It was something that will happen once and never again. It was a day when nothing could go right for the Germans. So don't think the Germans aren't going to make it because of that game.
The Germans are a very solid side. They for the main part rely on hard workers. But players like Scholl add something southern european to that. They have some new talents like Deisler and Asamoah, and a great keeper. Plus the German winning mentality is something that comes back time and time again.
I will support the Ukraine but realistically I believe the Germans will make it, they are alot more experienced after all.
Germany drew with Finland at home when they had to win for straight qualification. still they are tough to beat but possible
good game by ukraine but .... 1:1
couple of excellent 100% moments for Ukrainian but they did not managed to score.
so ukraine usually plays better in away games, on the other hand germany needs only draw 0:0 so Germany probably passes, but still I hope for Ukrainian Miracle
poor ukraine raped badly
all goals scored were headers stupid header, sad but ukraine has to gain some more experience.
poor lobanovsky :(
