I've been enjoying the action thus far. The olympics are as good a showcase of a nations young talent as anything, and if you're a fan of the USMNT, as i am, the future is all you have to look forward to.

Deserved victory by Argentina, and you only won 2-0 this time compared to 6-0 the last 2 times :lol: That ref though was terrible, not only for Serbia but for Argentina as well. Every little foul was a yellow card and the things that weren't even fouls resulted in yellow cards and penalty kicks. Either way the end result was still fair, but it did take away from the match a bit.

For us really another sad reality chek for our nation who has so long been such a proud football country to be in a slump like this for a few years now. :(

Para solucionar una historia que se había puesto difícil y en la que Holanda estuvo muy cerca de robarse el sueño de repetir el oro olímpico.

Messi había aparecido muy pronto en el partido y parecía que iba a ser poco más que un trámite pasar los cuartos de final. Esta vez, una ráfaga del talento de la Pulga alcanzó para que Argentina reflejara en el marcador ante Holanda la diferencia que cada vez se hacía más evidente en el juego. Encaró contra la defensa holandesa, se sacó de encima al arquero con un amague y, cuando un jugador holandés trató de cerrar, le dio como los goleadores de raza: con un tiro feroz como para arrancarle la cabeza al que quisiera meterse en el medio. Uno a cero y a festejar.

Pero se complicó de golpe. Argentina ganaba con toda justicia, amagaba con ampliar en alguno de esos ataques a fondo con Messi como abanderado y casi ya pensaba en Brasil. Claro que, aunque Holanda no hacía gran cosa, la defensa argentina, como en los partidos anteriores, abría la puerta para que el rival soñara con algo más. Y llegó un tiro libre desde afuera del área, un rebote y Bakkal que en la segunda jugada apareció solo al borde del área chica para definir cómodo ante Ustari. Otra vez a trabajar en serio.

El equipo de Batista era superior también en el arranque del segundo tiempo. Dos veces estuvo muy cerca, a través de Agüero: a los 2 minutos, cuando estuvo mano a mano con el arquero y su tiro salió demasiado cruzado; a los 8, con un cabezazo que salió a centímetros del palo.

Pero después la Selección se quedó sin grandes respuestas y, si bien volvió a disponer de oportunidades de gol, Holanda tuvo las suyas y muy claras, sobre todo cuando Drenthe tiró por arriba a cuatro minutos del final. Así se fueron al alargue, con la sensación de que estaba para cualquiera de los dos.

Entonces apareció un chico genio que dijo: "Yo no puedo perder este partido". Que a los 35 segundos metió un buen pase para Agüero, que otra vez definió mal. N-eway I was watching this boxing match involving our last mexican fighter and I don't honestly understand the ***ken judges because he clearly overpower the french guy! A lot of things like that happen in sports where judges give out scores. Did you guys see that Swedish wrestler. He won the silver medal, but he thought judges cheat, so first he ran to them and screamed at them, his teammates had to stop him. Then when received his medal, he took it off and threw it on the ground and left the podium. Later on, he was stripped of his medal.
