Hello,

I am a huge fan of English Football living in the United States. I was wondering if someone could explain to me in detail the situation going on with Leeds United and their 15 points appeal failure?

Also, I know how the relagation rules work for a team in the Premier League, but can someone explain in detail how teams in the Championship League get promoted and if the same rules apply to other leagues in the world such as Serie A or Spanish Primeria? I have read that the the top team in the Championship is automatically promoted to the Premier league, but there are also playoff games that determine other teams to be promoted as well. I don't know how that works. Thanks a lot!

For England Championship:
The Standing now are:
1. West Bromwich 78
2. Stoke 78
3. Hull 75
4. Bristol City 71
5. Watford 69
6. Crystal Palace 68

West Bromwich Albion(WBA) goes automitically to Premier League.
Stoke City goes automitically to Premier League.
Then will play the promotion playoffs:
Hull City Vs Crystal Palace (3rd with 6th)
and
Bristol City Vs Watford (4th with 5th)

The 1st playoffs play in they stadiums and with 2 legs, but the decesive match for the third team to go to EPL will be played in only one match and in Wembly.

can someone explain in detail how teams in the Championship League get promoted.

Ex:
EPL:
1. Manchester U 81
2. Chelsea 81
3. Arsenal 77
4. Liverpool 80

1st and 2nd team get promoted to CL. 3rd and 4th will play some qualification matches with some smalls clubs(usually)

Its same in Serie A, La Liga but in Bundesliga only the 1st goes automitically and the 2nd and 3rd play qualification matches.

Well first off Leeds aren't in the Championship they're League One. Championship is the league below the Premiership. League One is the Division below that. Like The Championship the first two teams are promoted automatically and the next four teams fight it out in play off's and one is then promoted at the end of the season. As it stand the four teams in the playoff positions are Nottingham Forest, Carlisle, Southend and Leeds but the season isn 't over yet and there's only one point between the 3rd and fourth placed teams and the 2nd.

As you may know Leeds were given a 15 point penalty at the beginning of the season due to the club going into administration. Basically Ken Bates started a new company to run Leeds and all debts from the previous company were more or less written off. Think he paid a penny in the pound for each debt. That's against league rules and they were docked 15 points. Bates is making an issue out of it as usual but he knew the rules and knew they would get the penalty and there was little chance of it being lifted. If it had I think several teams would have mounted a legal challenge against it ;)

I'd actually like to see Leeds promoted. Despite them being a rival of Man U I miss the old games between Man U and Leeds especially as we tended to win them :lol:I have little time for Ken Bates though the guy is an idiot.

I hope both Leeds & Nottingham can make it back up to the premiership in the next couple of years
