Okay as we know the first leg ended 0-0, now it is time to stand up and be counted if we have any ambition of winning this competition.

I expect a completely different Sporting side to come out against us rather than the one that showed up against us at Ibrox. They will leave a lot more gaps and we will benifit greatly from this as we are usually fantastic on the counter attack, as long as we can stop them from controlling the game too much like Bremen did in Germany then we should be fine. I think Cousin will be back for this game which will be benifactory as we need someone with the legs to carry us in this game. I suggest that we should push Novo out to the right and Davis in the center taking Hendani out of the team as he was very poor last night. Weir is suspended so Christian Daily will probably come in and do well so that is fine but all in all I just hope we get the first goal in the game.

I think it will be Sporting 0-1 Rangers :)

The 31-year-old Gabon international striker suffered the injury five weeks ago in the first leg of Rangers' last-16 tie against Werder Bremen, but they progressed without him and he is available again for Thursday's crucial meeting with Sporting. The sides are locked at 0-0 after the first leg at Ibrox, and Walter Smith is delighted to have Cousin back. "Daniel has been cleared to resume playing which is a big boost to us," said the manager, who will be without the suspended David Weir at the Estádio José Alvalade. "Daniel's return gives us an extra striking option. With Kris Boyd and Nacho Novo scoring at the weekend and Jean-Claude Darcheville playing well, we have a good mix."

Wow I read in the papers and heard on the radio that the Sporting officals are panicing because they have only sold 20,000 tickets and are fearful that Rangers fans could snap up the tickets if rangers fans do there is a potential that there could be up to 29,000 Rangers fans in the stadium :faint2:

This is highly unlikely although it could happen....it just shows how great a support we have :)

The last time Rangers went away, with a 0-0 first leg score line we drew 1-1. The only teams that have beaten us away from home are Barcelona, Werder Bremen and Stuttgart (that was unlucky against them, it could have went any way that game!!).

Sporting are not a great team and I am confident that we can do it tomorrow!!!

I thought we started the game well, we got good passes to our players, JCD was unlucky with the 4th minute shot which was blocked, he kind of fell asleep when Sporting hit the post. Carlos Cuellar and Christian Daily were outstanding in defence, I was a little worried with Weir missing out but Walter got it spot on putting Daily in CB. Steve Davis must be signed he worked his socks off from start to finish. He done brillaint work for the first goal with JCD put away sweetly. Steven Whittaker! What a goal! It reminded me of Jorg Albertz goal against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi back in 1998, he beat about 4 Sporting players and he finished brillainty, goal of the season? Only problem is, who will replace the suspended Ferguson and Thomson? Surley it must be Buffel, please god Walter dont start Faye! Anyway well done Rangers, bring on Fiorentina! WATP!

these are just real world class games! This game reminds me of the FK Sarajevo - KRC Genk match where we scored in like the last minute which eventually helped us qualify to the third round of the CL.. Another match which was intense like this was Bosnia - Norway..
thats why i like Rangers, everytime they play.. its just fun to watch, they make the games interesting and not just like some boring games like last weeks Barcelona - Schalke and others etc.
