Sorry to Ulster in advance, I know you made a thread about this game sorry about this buddy but I just wanted to make one closer to the time of the game, with a poll.
So this game is a really important one and I think we will win it, 2-0 but whats your thoughts on the game. I think Sporting are a very good technical team but they have a weak defence so we should be able to get round them.

Unless Sporting gets C. Ronaldo back for this game I say it will be a 1-0 win for Rangers
Heard anything about what our staring lineup will be for this game.....in particular who will be up front?

I think we need to stick it to Sporting in this game at home.....I say keep Cousin up front and put Novo as attacking midfielder...more on the attacking side...we need to go for the kill

^ Tbh I think that 2-1 would be a bad result, I just don't want to go into he second leg needing to defend for our lives, like in Bremen (my nerves couldn't take that again!!! :))
Yeah it's not exactly good to concede a goal at home in competions such as these..

I think you guys just don't really know what you're talking about...
Although Sporting is doing bad in the portuguese league this year, we still are a very competitive and skillfull side, much more than any Scottish team.
Rangers is all will and no skill:boo:. We handed you quite easily tonight.:smoking:
You won't stand a chance at Alvalade, unless you get some kind of lucky shot or rebound.
Stop underestimating Portuguese teams. We're way ahead of you guys!!
Cheers.:D

Rangers dominated this game....we just could not finish. Rangers showed they were the most talented team.

Cheers.:D First of all I find your argument very weak, our defense has been outstanding all year it has just become a bit tired over the last few weeks seeing that we are in all the competitions we could be in, so for you to say we won't stand a chance is laughable, In Bremen we were absolutely battered but only lost 1-0 and that was an absolutely brilliant goal by Diego and in my opinion Bremen are a far better side than Sporting.
Also the fact that you say you handed the game to us, what the hell are you on about. We were nowhere near our best last night and a good team would have capitilised on that but I have no doubt that we can go over to Lisbon and score and we don't look like conceding at all. So go back to your pathetic little corner and come back with a comeback for that!!!
COME ON THE GERS!!!!!

Exactly I agree, we were pathetic at times last night and still dominated, now if were a Sporting fan I would be pretty concerened by that. Although Sporting will be more tough to play over there I think we can do it :)

We've been playing twice a week for some months now, our players are as tired as yours, i don't consider that a valid argument. I prefer to back up my words with facts:we had more shots (12/8), more shots on target (4/1), free kicks to goal (1/0), less saves (1/4), more ball possession (53/47), and only conceded more corners (10/5). These are UEFA stats.
Our objective at Ibrox was to play for a draw or a win if possible, controlling ball possession and slowing down the pace of the game. Which we did.
So the second half is next thursday at Alvalade, and you should know by now that were pretty much stronger in our home turf.
Can Rangers score? Yes. Can Sporting score one more goal than Rangers? Yes.
Anyway, if any of you are coming to Lisbon for the game next thursday, enjoy, you're all welcome here:welcome:. If you have enough time, take a look around the city, have a drink, and eat some portuguese food. :hungry:
Cheers:Peace:
